Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

One of the nurses has a birthday tomorrow. So we have a huge birthday cake in the lunchroom.

I wouldn't even know where to go to buy rock salt in North Texas. Not sure Lowes or Home Depot would even stock it here.

I went with a set of 40cm Easton E100's on the Focus, and am glad I did. Getting a screaming deal on those was a plus, and I figured the extra 2cm clearance in crits, was also a bonus. I can't tell the difference.

Yeah, I was actually pretty sure that they'd be about the same. I know that Easton measures C-t-C at the hoods whereas (I think) Trek measures C-t-C at the drops (and they have a mild flare, as do the Eastons). Given this, I was entertaining the thought of going to 40cm Eastons, but there was a price difference, so I stuck with the 42.

I am going to go lift weights for lunch.
Excellent plan. Low cadence 91% ftp 4x5's or 8's on the trainer tonight. I assume this is not a rest day since weights are in the picture.

Wait - is this something for traditional wet shaving that I'm unaware of?! Or are you talking about exciting times keeping the sidewalks from being too icy?

I had low cadence intervals on the trainer this morning. I did not, however, do the recommended ~FTP @50rpm. My knees say, "**** that noise," so I kept it above 70. It still strained the muscles more than usual, so I'm content with that. Maybe I'll be able to comfortably go lower in the future, but I'm not hurting myself in the now.

It's the end of an off week, so only the commute (TSS ~ 40, total), and I just got an email that the group is on for tomorrow, so I will likely skip the squats and just do upper body and core, including a few deadlifts. Traveling next weekend, so I can really flog myself during the week.

Started squats on Monday and immediately put on a pound from the inflammation. Didn't hold onto it, though.

No doubt. Keep it real. 100% FTP hurts, as does 91% on weight days.

When I bought my first set of FSA bars, they had a 2cm flair. So, my 42cm bar (measured at the drops) is 40cm at the hoods. I like that width better, even though (officially) I should be using a 42cm bar.

Scored a Sram red compact crank with rings today for half what I have into the quark crank. Lighter, cheaper, mmmmmm..... just need to sell off the quark ones now.

I've been doing some of the GCN workout videos on you tube. Friken hurty. Suddenly I cant spin past 110 rpm without bouncing all over the place. Cant figure it out. And it's a real female dog to get and hold 120. Something isn't right with my fit or ?.....
