Did Chris King throw quick release under the bus?
While I wasn't paying attention, it looks like all of the quick-release versions of hubs have disappeared from their website, and their wheel builds also appear to be through-axle only.
Are their any retrofit options, or is quick-release obsolete and dead in the water technology as far as their stuff goes?

Even a lot of the CO OP stuff is through axle. I don't own anything with it. Do you dislike it?
I know the fascination with vintage bikes with horizontal drops has never appealed to me. Certain skewers don't work properly with vintage roadies and those types of drops.
And unless the bike is higher end why would I want to upgrade it?

The R45 hubs are still QR and the R45D have a QR axle option. https://chrisking.com/collections/hubs-all

I bet lack of demand.
in 2020 a QR frame costs much less than a CK hub. Not many people will build a bike that way. At least not enough to justify keeping a production line open.

A niche (CK) manufacturer discontinues supporting another smaller manufacturers (sorry Campagnolo) design doesn’t mean the end of QR, although, with everyone going disc, thru axles will be the dominant format for a while.
I have thru axles on my mtn bike, and while I understand the idea behind them, QR is just simpler to deal with.

Ideally, I would like to have hubs that allow interconversion between both, so I could use it on my current bike (from 2014) and future bikes (I agree through-axle is probably better, but what can I do?).
I think through-axles with disc brakes is significantly safer and superior to QR, so I can understand the decision they made. It would be nice if they were backward-compatible in the way many other boutique hub manufacturer's axles are.

They have two generations of R45D hubs. I have the first gen, which have quick-release as one option (and 6-bolt disc attachments). The current one is centerlock (a good thing) and appears to no longer offer the QR axle-option:

The rear has an option for 135 x 10mm, which is also QR
The print on the left side of the page specifies that they are convertible between QR and thru axle.
"Easily convertible axles 100mm x 9mm QR or 100mm x 12mm thru axle front options."

White Industries is still making QR stuff and Paul Components is still making some really nice QR skewers. If CK leaves you out in the cold WI has your back.
