OK, I don't get it. Why isn't Dr. 'Wind Tunnel' ODonnell all over this asking about prices, availability, etc.? As a matter of fact didn't they find his blood samples in Operation Puerto? I think that's news that's going to break soon. His results are a little TOO good, don't you think??
Come on Dr., 'fess up. Nothing would be quite as exciting as a BF Road Racer Forum dude being swept up in the UCI Scandal of the Century. Besides, what's the worse thing that could happen? They ban you from the USCF? You could still come on the Nyack Ride. No dope controls there dude : ). But plenty of dopes.

Go to Slowtwitch forums. They use them, they work. I'm married, so it's a total non-starter.
One guy accidentally set the setting for 15000 feet his first night in it instead of 5000 feet and kept getting horrible sleep and headaches and temporarily losing power. He didn't increment the altitude up over a couple days.

Not wanting to end up having to sleep in my own bed but still wanting to do just about anything to get better at cycling, I tried to test the waters for a tent like this by asking my wife something like "so I've heard that having sex at high altitude leads to stronger orgasms. Wanna try it?"

I believe Zabriskie has one but uses it to read/hang-out not sleep because his wife tried it and hated it - couldn't breath/sleep all night. Leipheimer also has one and uses it (his wife used to be a cyclist). On the other hand, I don't think Lance has/had one and he beat them both handily, so you never know.

In general, those that do/did it were in the top 5% of cyclists. Causation, or correlation, I don't really know.
Both my kids were in the sub fractions of a % in performance. My son, latter among the most elite at the USAFA which is not as ratified air as the Cat 1 kid cyclists.
I'm not the best gene pool physically, so I attribute much of that to mom and the things we did.
Our philosophy was we don't know exactly what matters, but everything matters.
But after about 5 years of this for cycling kid - he got sick, made a lot of mistakes, but it would be rare for anyone to beat him. His KOMs, some 100K attempts may still stand.
I think he was 10 when I did this. https://vimeo.com/86866702
Yes - I know this is 13 years old. Just thought I'd report, it might matter.
