Internal gear hub adapted to modern cassette and disc brake systems. Have they addressed the higher internal friction of hub gears?

Pretty amazing. With a 46t chainring and an 11-34 you can cover everything with no wrap concerns or chainline issues. And shift under load at any time.

Old concept, had a sram 3sp internal with 8sp cassette body meaning it could handle a 10sp one they came out. Problem was the sturdiness of the internals to shift under load and the internal friction. I'd guess the 2x could be built more robustly and have less friction, with modern gearing it does make sense to be able to do this and with the right ratios could take the place of the crank. But cost and weight of the hub are going to matter.

A new take on an old idea. 30 years ago, the Sachs Orbit used the same concept. A 2 speed internal with a multi cog cassette. I built a bike with one of those just a few weeks ago.

Imagine a compact triple with that hub. You'd have mountains crumbling & descent treated like a plateau.

Besides that, the way the hub is stretched to inside the cluster, I think would spread the bearings and strengthen things. There is also savings with not having the front deraileur clutzing around.

With the ability to shift under full torque & not risk breakage, that supports the moving inward to increase strength.
