Faggin Project

I started taking apart my Faggin yesterday. It sort of becomes an archeology expedition. I probably won't send this out for painting until after christmas, I'll dispose of some of the components with my goal to end up with a totally Nouvo Record bike. Lots of photos.

This is the way I recieved it, complete with the original silca pump.

Modolo levers, I actually preferred these back in the mid-80s, the hoods are rotting away as good rubber will after 20 years and a lot of miles in California sun:

The brakes are late-eighties chorus that came off a Colnago of mine that met an untimely end, lots of engraving all over this frame, sort of remarkable now what you could get in a frame for less than $300 in the mid eighties:

Cinelli bars (criterium bends) and stem, these look almost like new:

more later.

Looks nice. I spotted a Faggin for sale in the local CL:

Not my bike, WAY too big, but looks to be decent.

I recently completed a Faggin project.

My frame (faggin script indicative) pre-dates yours by a few years.

Super Record components with NOS Modolo brakes.

They ride great, a very smooth and stable feeling.

I hate a friend of mine who removed the decals on his red faggin because people kept asking him about his '***-in'

Got almost everything off her last night, the lug work is sort of interesting:

a little surface rust on the chromed/engraved seat stay ends, every joint on the bike has cutouts or engraving:

Nicely finished fork crown on the top:

But damn rough on the underside, I assume the crown is a casting, I can't imagine how much heat it must take to get a solid braze joint between that huge hunk of crown and the fork tubes:

more later

I'm working on a faggin project as well but building it with 2007 campy centaur components. *ducks*

more stuff.

The nicely rotted Columbus TreTubi decal:

This is the crank that came off it, Its a Specialized that I suspect is Asian in origin (the only markings on it are the arm length), standard Campy bcd and Gipiemme rings:

Underneath the crank, surprise surprise, a Dura Ace 7400 BB:

The cut-out BB shell:

No markings on the dropouts, front or rear, the rear adjusters are still intact:

They came on the bike. The paint is still original.
