Noise under load

So, I've got a clicking noise that is (I think) coming from my cranks / bottom bracket area. Only happens when I pedal, only happens sometime, and it seems to be perfectly in time with my cadence.

Anyway, I cannot for the life of me replicate this on my stand. I dunno if it's because of load or what. Does anyone have any tips for tracking something like this down when you can't repeat the conditions on a repair stand?

We need a bike noises sticky. After you have searched the fourms and found 1000 posts like this with all the answers check your pedal bearings. Good luck.

I just debugged something that sounds almost exactly the same, and it turned out to be my saddle. I thought for sure it was my BB at first too...

See if this link helps any: https://sheldonbrown.com/creaks.html

I had a pedal click that bothered my for most of a 100 k ride.
Stupid really....it was a shoelace ticking on frame.

I understand that there are a ton of posts about this. I did some searching. All of them are very non-specific.

My point was more if there were tips on duplicating situations under load on a stand...maybe pressing on the pedals a certain way, using a trainer and having someone else there, etc. I've seen all kinds of neat tricks that mechanics have come up with, and I was hoping maybe some had some to share.

are you trimming your FD? if you can, do this when it happens and see if it resolves it. Same thing happened to me and it was just the chain rubbing slightly... I'd only hear it when I stood up to mash.. a quick FD adjustment so the trimming was correct and no more noise.
