Fenders are lame, but...
Fenders are lame, but bike winter is here. I've got a rush hour with no back brake and a front brake; is there anything anyone here recommends for bolting on for the rain months? I saw a couple fenders this morning that bolt onto the brake area, but I'm not so sure whats available for the front.

Fenders are awesome. You must not have used them before. Buy some cheap full coverage ones and you're set. They take 5 minutes to install. Do you have eyelets? if not you may have to get the cheesy clip on 'race style' ones. Still, fenders are awesome and don't bash them!

Now repeat that 100 times and then I may help you with suggestions.
BTW, I'm currently thinking about replacing the steel struts of my lovely Zéfal fenders w/ Al. They really weigh a ton for no good reason.

Fenders are not lame. Riding in the rain without them and getting the line of crap up your back is. If they weren't a bit spendy I would love a set of Honjo fenders.

No it's not bad at all! I'd put those on a nicer commuter/cargo bike. I bought The SKS Full coverage 26" fenders for $15 for my snow slush salt and **** MTB. They are quite nice fenders for he money. They LOOK like plastic, but I drilled one for a mounting hole, and discovered they are actually aluminum covered in plastic.

yeah, they laminate it so that the aluminum doesn't bend and the plastic doesn't crack. Its a kind of yin/yang deal.

i did last winter (fall/spring and summer too) with "sks race blades" on my rush hour
work fine but don't do much for my feet, especially when the rain gets really nasty

fenders are lame? them's fightin words... I think being dirty and wet is pretty lame. at least when riding your bike to work. now, completing a race and being all sweaty, dirty and wet is pretty badass.

I love fenders. I use a full coverage set with them chopped a bit. I cut the rear so its about 1/3 coverage, just enough so it starts to arc around the tire. Looks slightly cooler to me.

I am a believer in Freddy Fenders. The front fender for the clip-on set mounts with one bracket on the back of the brake bolt and it has an easy release when you don't need it. The rear fender for the set isn't that great as it lacks 180 degree coverage. Get the mud guard to mount on your seat tube and you should stay dry.

if you have fenders for eyelets and no eyelets, you can go to home depot and get some of these. they are in the electrical section and are made to mount cable or wire to stuff. they come in all different sizes and if you get the right size they work great. plus the rubber doesn't ruin you frame.

i have had nothing but success mounting all of my fenders to my track bike (with no mounts) using only zip ties
