The other day, I decided to leave my hair down instead of my usual helmet-hair (two ponies, one up, one down until the top is long enough to fit in the bottom). It had been so long, I couldn't remember what it was supposed to look like. Still don't, but I remember that it had something to do with straightening, which I haven't done since May, when I started commuting. Bought a box of straightener, but I'm pretty sure that's all the farther I will get with the hairstyle thing...

... when your family doesn't even freak out anymore, and doesn't bother asking if you are riding even though it is pouring rain out... they already know the answer: of course!

When you stop worrying about your speed, cadence, etc. because you realize that no matter how fast you peddle, you always wind up at work.

...when you get 15" of snow and you are one of the only people that are able to get to work.
...when your parents finally understand you don't need a car (but need 3 commuter bike options for different weather).
...when the grocery store clerk's jaw drops when your full cart of groceries is able to fit in your messenger bag and panniers.

When you drive home from work and you get to the stop sign where you turn left and realize you are driving in the oncoming lane.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Never realized how cold it was when I was riding although it was cold enough that I knew enough to not expose any bare skin due to frostbite risk... put a good 30km on my bike that day which, if I remember well, started out rather nicely.
After this vicious cold snap we went and hit some record high temperatures for the season although things were still frozen.
The weather here can turn on a dime... it was 87F here today and it could snow next week...

Gas hike due to take place the next day...
You're greeted by a co-worker first thing in the morning:
Co-worker: Mornin'...You gas up this morning?
Your Response: Yep! Bacon, Eggs, and Toast...Yummy!

...you forget that your car has been at the (really slow) mechanic's shop for 3 months and you don't feel the need to call and ask what's taking so long.
...it feels weird to take a shower at home instead of at the office.
...you move closer to the office and start the morning ride going AWAY from the office so you still get the miles in.

when you keep your clean bike in the SUV to protect it from the dirt and dust of the construction near your apartment, but never wash the SUV because you don't drive it.

...Instead of regulating your body temperature with a knob on the dash you unbutton/button, zip/ unzip, peel/add, slow down your pace or speed it up, etc. I'll add "on your way to work" so this fits with the commuter motif.
...you use the time on the bike to let the rest of the world get it's act together until you decide to rejoin it. Kinda like stopping the world for a few Minutes so that you can get off.
In Florida so much of the above temp regulation is in the "un" category (for example, un button) so I can keep cool.
