Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Professional saddle restoration

Is there a shop that re-covers saddles? I know a few people here have done it themselves, but I have no interest in trying it.

I searched here, and on Google, and couldn't find anything.

Depends on the saddle? rhm recovers/reupholsters stretched leather saddles (think brooks). If you're looking to reupholster the more common type of saddle, try to find a upholsterer, or an auto interior restorer. Depending on how old the saddle is, the padding underneath might preclude you from engaging in that.

I came across one a few months ago when I was researching leather bar tape. I seem to recall that you could send your seat in and they would reupholster it and provide matching leather bar tape. They had a few SMPs done up and looked really good (quality wise).

Pretty sure it was lehcyclinggoods.com

the saddle I want re-covered is a Flite TT. I was thinking of an upholsterer as well. There's one next to the framebuilder's shop.

That's the shop I remember.

I couldn't find it on the Google.

Went to Leh cycling goods website: 'No custom projects for 2020 are currently being accepted...'
Looking at that saddle, I can see why you'd undertake a professional rewrap for it. It's not a common saddle profile, and if you're a saddle princess (not an insult) it'd suck to try and find a comfortable replacement.

I'm betting that an upholstery shop could do it. I've taken motorcycle seats to a local shop with excellent results.

Check your local cobbler. They are adept at replacing/repairing leather or otherwise on bike saddles.

Aside from the actual exterior uphostelry, is there also some (albeit very little) padding that would need to get replaced? How likely that they'd have a padding material to suit/match?
