Trading places with @Andy Antipas while descending fast on Sunrise road in Mt. Rainier National Park. No doubts of his skill and judgement.
Following @mountaindave on a night descent of the Going to the Sun Road encased in a bubble of light from our headlights, a lightning storm chasing us off Logan Pass. It wasn’t the ‘full moon’ ride we expected but it is forever etched in my memory.
With @gugie on a full moon ascent up to Mckenzie Pass this past Summer. I had eaten some recreational…um “edibles” before pushing off and they were kicking in :-)
The sky had a thin smokey haze from wildfires burning nearby but the moonlight was still bright enough to create shadows on the road. We switched off our headlights as we were riding when we reached the expansive lava beds near the top.
Dead, bleached tree snags rising out of the hardened lava like funerary monuments. Lost in thought, I realized I was alone so I stopped and waited in the dark for him to catch up before the last pitch.
It was so quiet. At one point I heard some rocks fall and hit some wood somewhere off in the distance up the hill behind me and wondered what had caused that to happen.
A wee bit of boogeyman fear creeping in...
Then I started to hear the faint sound of rushing wind off in the distance down hill...
Couldn’t see Gugie yet, but the rushing sound got more pronounced and I wondered if it was a car coming up the road.
Then few minutes later I could just barely see movement as a dark shape was coming up the road and there he was. So cool.
The Palouse ride that @scozim organized a few years ago is unforgettable. Especially since that 100 degree heat baked it into our brains.

Cino AND Coppi on back to back weekends in 2019 was an embarrassment of riches. So many BF’rs it was overwhelming.

Watching bikingshearer nearly blow a blood vessel making it up the entrance to Olea Farm. No pics unfortunately.
Andy_K (Brooklyn) and Straightblock (white helmet facing the camera).
gugie and northbend shortly after both had double flats in the space of 100 yards.

A classic Cino moment when @etherhuffer opened a bottle of Champagne with a saber to toast @ollo_ollo at the Awards banquet in 2019. He was the oldest rider that weekend.

RHM's Anti-Eroica Hard Man New Jersey Century in 2015:
Me, Robbie, Rudy, Neal, Phil and can't remember who the guy on the far right is. It was The Day Of Many Flats...
Bartali Fest,. 2014.
Day before the event, a handful of us rode from Mineral Point to Mt. Horeb:
Pete, his brother Brian (PBB), Robbie, Scott and me
Dave Beck, Man In Charge. Although, this being at the New Glarus brewery, not sure if anyone was really 'in charge'...
The day after The Big Ride, Robbie, Pete and I took a jaunt to Belleville to see the old train tunnels:

A (partial) Day in th Life of a Gugie Ramble
Yakima Canyon was only a part of their day. I believe gugie saved the more sustained climbing for the end of the day.
Loaded.
Can you tell these guys have double pace practice in their legs?
Is this grade steep, or just hot? Or a bit of both.
My ride that day
