He’s a bigwig in the bike world. I am suggesting that he should have some ideas and do something instead of just floating along and let all us poor riders take the hit. I think that would be called leadership. Let’s see some.

Instead of asking Mike S to find an answer, ask yourself the same question. Why is it up to some rich guy to figure out our problems? As Jimmie Johnson said to a friend of mine who played for him, "Step up to the line, call the play, make the play." You know what has to be done, now do it!

It seems to me that more bikes stolen = more bikes replaced = more revenue. Why would Spesh or anyone else reduce their own revenue.

"Bike theft"?? LOL . They were stealing them as momentos IMO.
I'm more devastated by the theft of my hand-me-down CCM in 1965.

I don’t know California law, but in Florida, theft of an item (including bicycles) that have a value of $300 or more is a felony, same as car theft.

They may be more sellable than you think. 90% of cyclists wouldn’t know what these bikes are, and 100% of non-cyclists would have no idea. These bikes could easily be sold overseas, they would be snapped up quickly enough, and all one would need to do is put them in a box, as no serial number documentation would be be necessary to ship them.

I remember a motorcycle theft ring which stole countless sport bikes on the east coast. These were cut up, put in 55 gallon drums, shipped to Jamaica, where, after a being welded back together, and paying a few bribes, they could be titled and resold in the Caribbean or Latin America. Stealing bicycles and exporting them is far easier.

Label them with "Giant" decals?

How on Earth is he supposed to prevent your bike from being stolen?

Perhaps these bikes were taken because there were no "regular" bikes to steal. Another COVID casualty. Maybe the toilet paper was stolen as well.
