@Caliwild Nice Specialissima By any chance was this bike at The Bicycle Stand in Long Beach? I saw one a few weeks back getting serviced.

Just acquired this bad boy (Campione d'Italia). Is there a feature what automatically tells the year? It's at my friend's place so I can't inspect it but she says she sees the numbers 4351 on the BB shell. + Modolo brakes, ofmega headset, ITM handlebar, Campy shifters and derailleur (what line?)... and... a rather curious crankset ?!

The combination of logo style and Forumla Two tubing decals indicates a 1988 model, while the presence of Campagnolo versus SunTour derailleurs indicates a Canadian market model. The chainring is an aero model introduced for time trial and triatlon use. It is a replacement item but the crankarms are OEM.

The Giro needed some TLC. New bar tape, cables and drop bar position adjustment. A quick wipedown and its looking much better.
When I picked it up from my LBS I realized the bars are 66-42. I should've gone with 64-42 like my other bikes. Next time I'll swap the bars.
Wrinkles and patina I love this bike the most.

My latest project, before I started working on the Bob Jackson that is.
1982(?) Nuovo Racing, bought as a used-up, rough potential project, with multiple frame (and other) issues, and no wheels.
Paid too much as I recall, $150 or so because I'd been looking for one like this that was made in Italy and I failed to spot the frame issues.
My previous positive experience was with the similar lightweight 1980 Bianchi Super made in Japan, both models featuring upright racing geometry.
It has a repaired fork leg still sporting a dent on the upper leg from a bench vise, and extra bottle cage holes drilled into the butted seat tube. Thankfully I weigh only 140#.
It has cleaned up well.
I used a nice, old Tourney rear derailer, replacing a non-original "New 600"(?) derailer having a bent mounting bolt. I really like this Tourney derailer, it's non-adjustable for B-tension but seems adjusted correct as is for the 13-28t freewheel, shifting great as a 6-speed.
Original stem was 5mm longer than this one that I fitted, which seems odd since the Japan-built Super came with and still has an 8cm stem in this same frame size! Oddly enough both bikes handle quite well at all speeds(?!).
At right is the 2000 Expedition XLT project that I finally just moved on after a couple of cold months of diagnoses, repairs and overdue maintenance.

So many stunners in this thread! First vintage bike I was riding around was mid-80's Sport SX in celeste. Was too much fun and now I'm hooked on these old, sometimes impractical things

Ferrari-red Campione d'Italia, 1997. Cheap in those days and heavy. But I like it.

I got this in a trade. My neighbor liked my old '80s Schwinn Cruiser 5 (which my brother in law GAVE me), So my neighbor rolls this out of his garage! Straight across trade. Full Shimano 105. I had it for a few years then sold it on CL to a very happy young lady.
