Canadian content (and maybe pushing the boundaries of C&V) - a Vitus 992 is currently sitting at $105 in the Toronto police auction. It looks to be an OCT, which was a carbon ovoid frame with aluminum lugs that was made up until the mid/late 90s. Integrated headset is pretty neat! This one's been turned into a fixie, and is missing some braze-on screws and the front cable guides in the headset:

policeauctionscanada.com/Listing/Details/44962689/Vitus-992-FixieSingle-Speed-Bike-229533D

Short notice as the listing ends in four hours tomorrow at time of writing - maybe someone can post a picture? (or I'll update this once I eventually hit 10 posts)

Man, I agree. And that's real close to my size. Reynolds says this frameset is better than 531SL. This is the sort of thing I'm looking for. But I don't want to paint.

If you don't buy it, I might have to. A nice Gitane is on my short list. One of us is going to have to do the other one a favor and take this thing off the market. You're more likely to do a build that will make the Gitane fans on this forum happy.

I doubt it. I would use all my binned, hodgepodge, '80s Campy bits.

Italian racing bike 56cm

$100
Hobbies
Listed 12 hours ago in Sacramento, CA
Condition
  • Used - Good
Italian racing bike from 1993. Columbus steel frame, perhaps 56 cm. The seat post will not move, would require a frame guy to fix that. Put new shifters on it, it has a Shimano DuraAce rear derailleur, that alone is likely worth the $100 I am asking for the bike. I paid $400, had it maintained up north in Humboldt County where I rode it a lot over a 4-year span. Likely could use new rims. A project bike, needs a little tweaking, but the frame and components are vintage bliss, and alone worth more than the asking price. $100.

‘88 Women’s Olympics Serotta

This bike is still available, and the BIN has been dropped to $2k.
Nice piece of history, and a great bike for someone who may fit the size.

Looks quite real to me: the blue-painted frames were said to be Columbus Aelle (red painted=Columbus SL). Nice deal (despite Ochsner being a Campy distributor so might have looked askance at the Shimano stuff)

Yeah, but I'm thinking more like powder coating and post-2000 10-speed Campy parts. I just need to find an empty place in my garage to store it....

The rear is already at 130mm, so that seems pretty easy. I don't know how that would work out with me and my affinity for 126.

Powder coating up here in Seattle is just so expensive now. Ridic. Wish I knew of an auto body shop that would do it beautifully and cheaply.

Well, I guess it'll have to be me then.

There's a place in Portland that does a single color for $140. The couple of frames I've seen looked pretty good.
