Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Man, I can't imagine the sense of entitlement necessary to argue against wearing a mask on an airplane.

Prolly the same people that want to bring a full-size bag onto a CRJ and want to argue why it should fit in the overhead space because it fit on the last plane.

My disc is heart shaped instead of being round. Epidural once i get approval to stop blood thinner from my Cardiologist. I don't know how this works over the course of my life. The bulge is going to be there potentially forever from what i was told. The fibers that hold it in place are torn and that is why it is bulging since it is not being held in place. I guess if it shrinks it might stay in place until it is jarred again and slips out of place. Not real good communication of what this means to me in layman's terms. I was told it is not too bad but that is easy for them to say since it not their back or quality of life that gets pissed on. #LemonsLemonade

They do the epidurals on Monday and Friday and i need the cardiologists approval so that will take this Friday and probably next Monday out of play. Maybe next Friday the 26th? I should feel better in less than 2 days.

Below is the technical verbiage which means nothing to me.

They Nurse Practitioner going over it with me literally said "we got this" I thought of you since you said that a few days ago. Positive vibes...

Not a very impressive MRI. I hope that fixes it.

The natural history of disc protrusions like this is intermittent exacerbating and remitting symptoms until the disc shrinks or crumbles as part of the degenerative process. The best thing you can do is to strengthen the muscular support for the spine to preserve alignment and keep that disc in place.

They inject a mixture of an anesthetic and a steroid. If the target is correct, there should be some immediate relief. Definitive improvement takes a few days.

Yeah, previous pic looked fine, it probably is just some barrel distortion in the cleaned up pic.

The closest I ever came to being flattened was a right hook. I was moving along at a good clip and then there was a car in my path. I locked both brakes and somehow didn't make contact. There wasn't an inch to spare. I stopped riding that part of town. And now I don't ride in that town at all. In the last ten years population has increased by 25%. Traffic by 45%. We don't have meaningful drivers tests here. Or traffic enforcement.

I keep threatening to do it. Maybe some day. I think the larger engine comes on the automatic. I might have to drive one and see how they are.

To a lot of people from a particular political bend, they are proving thier worth to the cause. The fact that in doing so they endangers others isn't any concern of theirs.

I'm sure it'll be $1k, or thereabouts. With my P2M, I wouldn't personally get them any time soon, but I would certainly consider it a couple few years down the line. Being able to swap pedals with only a wrench would be nice and then I could run whatever cranks I'd like.

Speedplay pedals do have a very loyal following. I have not used them and am fine with the Look Keo line. That said, if I had foot or knee problems I would consider other options.

Apparently all the "brains" are in the cleat and not the pedal. Which means the cleats require occasional maintenance and are finicky.
