Well, I did read on the Internet that they were made by Colnago.

I heard BikesDirect.com bought the brand rights to Firenze and were planning on reissuing a new, cheaper and crappier version.

I always thought the city of Florence (the one in Italy) should sue whoever made those things for defamation for besmirching the city's good name.

I don't think anyone in the Madison area sold them BITD. So any that you see around here, I think it's a safe they're from TV Lenny (i.e. they were giveaways).

I would not doubt that there might still be lots of Firenze bikes, stashed away in old warehouses and attics, complete and unassembled, still in their shipping boxes, as they were produced in the tens of thousands, back in the 80's. They most likely could not give enough of them away back then. I find the bike to be kinda like a period cultural curiosity from the 80's and how people like Crazy TV Lenny pioneered such sales and advertising strategy that was copied all over the country. It seems all goofy and tacky when you look back to those days, but I think it worked and made American of Madison a lot of money.....

That ^^^^^^^ seller has re-posted that bike at least two or three times (and it's been posted either here on in Wacky World). Maybe I should just Email him a pic of TV Lenny's smiling face from 1987-ish.

(Or maybe I should Email Lenny every time someone posts a Firenze on CL.....)

Vintage 56cm 'Firenze -GL5000'. 10-speed Road Bike. +brandnew tires! - $150

Excellent vintage steel roadbike. This still looks new and runs perfectly!!! No rust, or issues. It is clean and complete, with a brand new set of tires installed!
Fits 5' 7" - 6' 2", depending on your legs.
I am 5' 11" and it feels great with the seat adjusted.
Call me up to take a testride-
$150, cash only. Delivery to Richmond Bart station available if you ride the Train.
It is pretty lightweight too!

That's our CL mass-flipper. I don't think he cares much what he flips. I've seen a lot of POS in his ads these past years.

Firenze Mountain Bike. 15 speed, 26 in tires, $135.

BPA-free, I'm sure. (Even the Colonel looks alarmed.)

That one has the ultra rare flexible hand held remote gear shifter...you can shift while riding no hands and drinking from the MTS 505 PBA free water bottle.
