Addiction 2021.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm trying to find a feel-good cultural marker for my senior year.

Most people refer to that period as the beginning of something "Great" but it's in more of a quantitative rather than qualitative sense

The biggest thing in my memory is that the Vietnam draft ended two years before my senior year. We all turned cartwheels for years after that was announced.

Got Pfizer shot #1 this morning. Some have said it made them tired and achy. Not sure I'll notice.

The vaccination situation at the New York State Fair Grounds was super smooth. I was only on premises for 20 minutes, including the 15 minute cooldown.

I'm getting #1 this afternoon. My wife and a couple of co-workers characterized the reaction as being like a hangover.

For whatever reason, stuff from my senior year is a bit of a blank spot. Freshman year ('91/'92) stuff sticks out more. Then comes the stuff from my early 20s, which has strong associations.

Had my first Wednesday “club” ride in a year. There were 9 riders. Pace was a bit faster than I wanted, but we stayed together and it was 100% fun. Now I am knackered. The honey do list will have to wait.

Do the honeydo's when asked.
Do them without complaint.
Do them wrong or poorly.

Your list will shrink until it's gone.

I was lucky enough to have been born in late 1957, so I never had to even register.

I turned in to a bit of a troublemaker my senior year so I had some quite...memorable...interactions with my parents
