Carbon or paint crack?
Hi,
I just noticed an annoying crack at the junction between the frame and the support of the rear brake (rim brake). No strange noises or other failure signals. The bike was bought as new from the producer in 2016.
Did anybody encounter such issue? What would be the chances to be a carbon failure?

No idea if it's cosmetic or structural, but I'd probably take it into a qualified shop and ask them to inspect it and provide their opinion.

Unfortunately, I have no qualified shop around. As I understood, "qualified" would be somebody who operates ultrasound or x-ray scans on carbon parts. No way to find one, so I must guess somehow...

A hairline on the brake bridge? I personally wouldn't be concerned about it. That said, I'd probably check it out every once in a blue moon.

Looks like a hairline finish crack, probably resulting from flexing at some level.
You might try this stuff: Capt. Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure 2 oz. - Sailrite
It works really well to add strength and fill cracks. Use is on the boat gelcoat when stress cracks appear.

It's gonna assplode!!
Well...probably not...but I'd keep a close eye on it. If it changes in size or appearance, you should seek out the opinion of a professional.

Thanks for the answers.
I feel a little better, since chances are to be paint issue. Otherwise, I should send the bike abroad to the producer - it was an internet purchase. And they don't make that color anymore. Quite a pain... good to avoid it.
