So I ended up with Barcons...
I used a different set of brake levers, bars, stem and DT stops.

I like the simplicity of bar-end shifters and in a pinch they can be set to non-index shifting if you need them. I like the longevity of bar-end shifters a lot better. Love "brifters" but they can be expensive if looking for vintage/period correct. Have any of you tried bar-end shifters with the cable housing wrapped under the handlebar tape? Easy to do and looks real clean. You will need longer cables and cable housing. I used the cables for tandem bicycles for my installs. It also makes people take a second look and say what the heck?
