Not to worry...I've clipped my nails, trimmed unnecessary facial hair, and sweated out extra water weight to make up for the extra weight on from those long valves
Me personally I like the look of long valve stems.

Let me guess... You are the kind of bicyclist hiding excess centimeters of seatpost hidden within the frame too? Way below that limit line! Blasphemy! ;-)

I installed a set of Tufo Tubular Clinchers on my mid-90s Mavic Cosmic wheelset. Because the stems were too short--- I had to add extensions! Don't they look awful!?!

I agree with @dmark.. No.
Why are males so fixated with the size of their valve stems?
On a side note, my steerer tube is fairly long but alas only 1” diameter...

Can we just establish that the nut and cap serve no functional purpose and are only included with tubes to meet shipping regulations?

Yea, I have to rebuild that wheel. It was a frankenlacing with a mixture of spokes, straight, dB and lengths. Had a couple of broken spokes, so rebuilt with at least the short ones on the drive side.
Thanks for pointing it out. I haven't ridden for a couple of years. A bit small.
Crap! Different wheel set!
