Early 80s DeRosa frame/fork - value?

See pics. Based on the bottom bracket style, this looks to be early 80’s but I am a bit confused on a point or two. Were there different models in the early 80s that used different types of Columbus tubing? A seemingly well-informed potential buyer asked what model and what tubing. In the early 80s I thought that there were only road and track models. It is a one color paint job and there are few identifying decals on the frame (no Columbus eg) but it is undoubtedly a DeRosa based on the lugs, pantograph and dropouts so any insight into models would be really helpful. Where would a serial number be found? I could not locate one. And, also are the full chrome sloped forks really “less desirable” as someone noted in an old posting? They LOOK gorgeous!

I'd guess late 1983 to 1987. It's worth what you can get. Prices are all over the place.

Great bikes, keep it if it fits.

I thought the sloping fork crown was late '80s but I could be wrong.

IIRC, slope or flat crown was an option without a specific time period. The only reason I like flat crowns is that they look more C&V.

"The first sloping crowns were introduced with the limited edition Linea Aerodynamica's in 1980 and appear *most commonly* during the first half of that decade and then he *mostly* reverts back to the classic flat track crown style."

From an old post on another forum by my old friend, caterham.

Obvious repaint. Paint does not affect ride quality

Yep, but this was a value question.
And I will refrain from commenting as I don't like later DeRosa's in the ride dept.

So you would value low based on personal preference? This looks like a 83-85 Professional.

Since no one wants to chime in on a price, if it fit me and I wanted to try a De Rosa, I would pay $300 for it. I am cheap.

If it were a repaint in a color I liked, and had a flat fork crown, I'd pay more.

Best advice is to search ebay completed listings and find similar de rosa framsets that have sold.

I'd say with some degree of certainty that your frame is a 1986 Super Prestige minus it's original paint and with powder coat as well as some interesting (De Rosa BREV? on chainstay) decals. As mentioned before flat or sloping fork crowns were interchangeable for some models in the 80's (the vogue for Aero favoured sloping crowns in the latter part of the 80's - then the re-issue's in the early 90's - Nuovo Classico 1993 which I have/ Neo Primato etc returned to flat crowns for their 'authenticity'. Have you checked inside the fork column for rifling? As this would indicate SLX tubing.
In the UK this frame would be worth £400-500 as is and with a £150 paint job and the correct decals considerably more.
If you Google 'Classic Re Rosa Guide' (I can't post pics or links yet) you'll see a nice infographic chart showing details BB/ fork crown/ seatstay caps etc with dates.
Also Ray Dobbins has restored a Super Prestige if you look at his site. Plan on a whole day for this, there is so much eye candy on there.

By 1986 the bottom bracket had changed to the micro fusion version.

When I think more about it, you could sell the fork alone for at least $200, maybe more.
