1/3/11-327 lbs.
1/31/11-319 lbs.

I forgot about posting on these threads for a couple weeks, but I've been pretty much on plan all month. I am somewhat disappointed at my 8 pound loss. For as strict as I've been eating and working out hard, I expected more. I recently signed up for a consultation with a sports nutritionist to see if she can help me. I feel like I'm missing something.

Good work everybody, keep it up. We'll all be svelte soon.

I needed to read your post.

THANKS!

Not much, but I'll take it.

I haven't been able to keep up with the treadmill running that seems to have made such a dramatic difference the week before. I did something to my Achilles tendon -- spent this week babying it. Spent some time on the elliptical instead.

I did get out in the snow this weekend: sledding. As I was walking to the sledding hill (about 3/4 of a mile from my house), I saw one guy just looking at this grey-haired woman walking by, carrying a sled, no kids with her... what was her (my) excuse? I saw him again on my way back home. At this point, I was carrying my sled and wearing a big dumb grin.

He was pretty much staring at this point, so I had to say something. "Just because you get older, doesn't mean it stops being fun."

I've surpassed all of what I considered 'realistic' weight loss goals in the past year and a half. The only thing left is trying to hit the theoretical '<25 BMI' at 194 lbs, and that seems reachable now. I wonder if I can get there before my 45th Birthday?

I had a good week I weighed 290 on Sat. I rode 14 miles on Sat which is my longest ride outside of the Gym. I weighed 294 on Sunday and Monday. I don't understand that big of a jump especially after the workouts this weekend. I also hit the gym on Sunday. I still lost five pounds this week and I am happy about that.
Start 324
Current 294

We're only a month past the holidays, right? Can anyone honestly say that the holiday season didn't put a cramp on their diet/exercise habits? I know MY routine sure as hell got a bit mixed up last month and it was tough getting back into the norm at the start of the new year, but with effort I'll get back in the regular swing of things. Likewise - I knew at the end of the year I was getting close to plateauing, so I created a plateau intentionally. I loosened the chains on my diet, so-to-speak, and gave my body a little rest. Sure, my weight went up a slight bit, but I didn't let it get out of hand. And I believe by doing so, I allowed my body to catch up a bit and my metabolism to reset itself a bit. The result is that in the new year I was able to pick up where I left off and continue losing. If your body seems to be fighting you, maybe it's time to take a little break. Let your calorie count break even and relax your exercise habits a little bit. The weather isn't exactly helping matters anyhow, so why not take advantage of the break? When you get back into the swing of things, hopefully your body will be rested and ready to go again.

Maybe the above advice sounds crazy, but it worked for me, so I figured I'd offer. Of course it goes without saying, your mileage may vary. But whatever you guys do, don't give up! A minor setback is just that. There's no pound you put on one week that you can't take off the next week.
I think this makes sense, and even if it doesn't, it makes me feel a little better. And I need that right now - between the back (which continues to confound me), being iced in for the past three days, and now getting a cold, I can use all the comfort I can get. I already know this coming weigh-in will be bad, but at this point, I don't care. When all is better I'll be able to get back into focus on this stuff. Till then I'm through with the guilt.

Well 292 today not any real change since last week. Feel good about no gain over superbowl weekend. Looked at road bikes this weekend and in thirty more pounds I think I can cut my bike weight in half. I got my first pair of padded bike shorts and they do help. 262 here I come. Have a great week and keep moving!!
