Shoe Question
Hi everyone. I just purchased a pair of Louis Garneau Durango clipless shoes. I am planning on getting a new bike and will use clipless for the first time. The lady at the LBS said the bottom plate comes off of the shoe to enable it to clip onto the pedal. Do I simply undo the Allen bolts to take the plate off, then put them back on? I was assuming that the plastic cover popped right off(Know what happens when you assume)

Undo the allen screws and remove the "bottom plate" and toss it or put it in a drawer. Then mount the cleat in that empty space.
SPD cleats
Egg Beater cleats
The cleats will come with the pedals. What pedals are you getting?

I'm not sure what pedals I'm going to get. The LBS showed me some that they have and they said they are probably their most popular. I should have got the name of them. They were 90 bucks I think.

double sided with a platform on one side and a Clipless mech on the other,
are practical.
Shimano has 2 sorts of these , Welgo has a shimano-like knock off.

On your shoe, it looks like you unscrew the two allen screws and remove the rubber cover, it should just pop off after removing the allen screws. You will see two screw holes that slide back and forth, you mount your cleats to those holes. You probably won't be able to put the cover back on while the cleat is mounted.

I hate to look ignorant by asking questions like that in a store, but sometimes it's the best way. That's not something they teach in school, so you won't be the first one to ask it, either.

In store she said that the plate comes off and the cleat attaches to that. I didnt think anything of it and figured it just clipped on there.
