1985 Peugeot PGN-10
SOLD.
"I'm open to selling my Peugeot PGN-10. Full Reynolds 501 frame and fork, well equipped. [SOLD / $350], plus bikeflights if shipping. Really really nice condition, with only a few minor chips.
New wear items include:
Ergon carbon-bodied saddle, chain, brake and shifter cables and housing, bar tape, brake hoods, tubes, and tires. Added a '90's vintage bottle cage.
I've cleaned and lubed everything except getting into the headset and bottom bracket, which seem to spin well.
60 cm bike, that's 60 c-t-t seat tube, 58cm c-t-c top tube.
I'm not in a hurry, but I do need more room for the pink diamond back I picked up, so burgundy may just have to go.
Listed locally on Craigslist.

Bump bump... this fell off page 2. Took it for a ride on Saturday, feels great! I keep getting "is this still avialable" hits on my local ads with no follow up. No biggie, will just keep riding.

The "is X item still available?" messages are quite often scammers/bots either looking to scam you or collect your info. Craigslist doesn't mask the display name you send with your email, and the requestor is hoping you include some other contact info like phone/personal email address. I recommend putting something near the top of the ad like "If ad is still here, item is still available. Messages asking if item is still available will be ignored."
That said, '84 PGN10 owner here, it's been in my stable for what seems like an eternity and probably won't leave any time soon. I've never been able to get rid of it! Fun ride.

Hah... depends on how loosely defined pronto is. I've had offers approaching reasonable prices (60% of asking), but we're not there yet. If the guy selling the andre bertin near my office ever gets back to me, it might be more pressing to move this.
For the time being, I'll try to ride it when I can.

We'll see, I answered the ad when it came out, then again when I realized what it was:

Lowered ask to $450. If you're reading this I'll take $400.
(No Bertin for me, although there's a Raleigh Super Course that I want to save too... for $90... do not need. do not need. do not need.)

I have one of these too, I really like it. Very flexy frame that does some wild stuff, especially off road. Speaking of which, these bikes have massive tire clearance, 35’s are no problem on mine, so they are great gravel grinder conversions.
Does yours have the plastic headset? The one you can take apart with your bare hands? Too bad those never caught on, they’re light as a feather. Mine still works fine after 30+ years.I swapped out (but am definitely hanging onto) a few parts I didn’t really care for, like the 42/52 crankset, and the wheels, since I don’t have the special tool for the helicomatic hub.
The freewheel does not work well with a Shimano chain, and I had no luck with the Sachs rear derailleur, it only seemed to handle a very tiny gear range. And the brake levers, I just like the comfort and hand positions on Tektros, plus I had just seen the gum-colored hoods and figured this bike would be perfect for them.
Now the bike is totally awesome. It’s one of those bike where the drops feel most natural. When I go back to the hoods, it actually feels like I’m sitting up and going to the bar tops, but I’m not. And the frame flexes to the point where you are time trialing along on the flats, you actually have to straighten out the front wheel after each pedal stroke. I really like old bikes that flex like that, the French really got it right with these bikes.
I am absolutely never getting rid of mine, but GLWS.

Ask now $400. Make me a good offer. A local buyer backed out today at that price.

$370. Coming down out of the stratosphere. Garage is crowded with projects and the Alpine is the keeper, so I do need to make room.
And I don't even have the Diamondback taking up space - rented it to a local lady who already has two bikes but wanted a real road bike to do a sprint triathalon. But it's coming back soon...

Stripped a blue '86 version of this down to the frame yesterday. Cool bike. The seat post attachment is really unique with the wedge-seat post that makes the whole seat-cluster look very svelte.
Not sure about the '85, but the 86 version I'm building for a friend came with a very nice needle-bearing headset. Plus if anyone wants to retro-roadie them, the tire clearance, plus standard downtube bosses, and a hanger that accepts Shimano derailleurs makes it a relatively simple project.

I never stand flat footed over my bikes, will ride up to a 35" standover, depending on geometry, and just lean the bike slightly when stopped. I'm 6' with a 32" inseam.

Sold to a local lady for $350. Bike is too big, so we slammed the seat. She wanted turkey levers, so I stripped some dia-compes off an extra set of handlebars hanging from the ceiling, she's going to try the co-op to swap them over, I may get back the Weinnman levers and Rustines hoods.
She was very enthusiastic about it, so that's nice.

Congrats on sale. Several people have gone completely nuts over mine. These old Peugeots are truly undervalued classics. I should start hoarding (more) of them.
I have found it's easy to own a classy bike like this and begin to take its beauty for granted, much like a beautiful woman.
