Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The main reasons for me were reliability, stiffness, and aesthetics. I used to have the Campy Zonda and had zero issues. Never had to get them trued even once. I wanted to upgrade to something a little lighter and stiffer. So I was going to get the Shamal Ultras but the price on the Fulcrum Racing Zero from Merlin was too good to pass up especially when they're essentially the same wheels. I still have the Fulcrum Racing Zeros on my Fuji SL. They are probably the most responsive wheels I've ever ridden. Not sure what it is but it feels like the engagement is instant. Like as soon as I pedal, the wheels are in motion. Also as a heavier guy, I like that they don't flex and they are incredibly stiff. That might be a detriment if you are on the lighter side of the scale. Because of my positive experience with the Zonda's and Racing Zero's and not having a single issue despite riding on some not so nice roads, I got the Zero Nite to match my Giant TCR Advanced (pic below ). Also not having to deal with rim tape is a huge for me.

I recently imported it from a bike shop in Japan. Full chrome underneath.

Technically they were purchased about a month ago, but now they're here, new 46x28mm wheels from LB with 25mm GP5000s. Absolutely love them, have two rides on them so far, about 80 miles, and they're fantastic (the tires are too, def an improvement over GP4Ks, which were great).

I just bought an assortment of M6 hex bolts in different lengths, because inexplicably the front fender mount at the top of the fork on my CAADX requires a different size bolt than all the other (M5) fender mounts on that bike!

Seems a great deal. Which site is that from?

Edit: This? I see that the US site has much higher prices and no Novatech options? Any idea why? Did you order from the global website to the US?

I went through the global website because it is much cheaper, and there are more options.

I ordered mine through the global site as well. You can pick your decals and have more hub options (I went with white logos and a stealth valve decal). Production was delayed with the Lunar New Year, but once they were done it only took six days to get them to my door, not too bad. I'm extremely happy with them, there was not a single flaw anywhere.

Thanks. Any pics?

Just wondering what would go well with this bike? UD matt or glossy, and the decals.

For that bike, I would go UD matte with either stealth or black graphics.

Just posted a pic, a few posts back, but here's another one, in the sun. Mine are UD matte with white logos, and the valve decal is stealth.

Nice. Seen this pic on their website too.

Did you get the V or the U shaped rims? And hookless or ones with hooks? Was it difficult to mount the tyres?

They're the 46mm V shaped (28mm wide), although, it's a rounded V, not sharp like the old V shaped wheels. They're very stable in the wind. Mine are hooked, not sure I agree with hookless for the road, I'd rather have a few extra grams and know that my tire isn't going to blow off. Mounting the 25mm GP5000s was a piece of cake, didn't even need that much thumb pressure (I did lay them out in the sun for a bit to make sure they were pliable).

Nice looking setup. Though you don't have any issues getting a 28mm wide rim thru your calipers? I know my campy chorus setup sticks on tires if they're much past 26mm in width.
[EDIT] Come to think of it, I've never experimented with how wide I can setup my brakes in their resting state. And/or is the brake track at a lesser width than where the 28mm dimension is from?

Thanks. Saw this just after I started a new thread about rim depth and profile. Did the tyres get seated with a regular pump?

Thanks, I'm really happy with it! No issues at all, I have r8000 direct mount brakes, rated for 28mm per Shimano, but could probably go even wider, I just didn't want to push the limits. I bought slim brake pads because I was afraid it might be too tight, but now that I have them on there, I see I can fit regular width pads. Rims measured just over 28mm at the brake track.

Yup, got them on by hand with no levers and then just a floor pump, single pop of the bead seating and they were good to go. I'm running 85psi front, 100psi rear. Could probably drop down a lil bit, but I'm a heavier rider and I don't want to drop too low and risk a pinch flat. They're comfortable for me at that pressure.

It looks like the 56mm version did quite well in some independent aero tests

https://www.hambini.com/blog/post/bi...one-is-fastest

I've been checking the progress of my wheelset build using the link provided by LB. It looks like they've been sanding them for 8 days. I hope they just forgot to update the link.

I saw that, it was nice to see them holding their own against the bigger brand names. I figure the 46mm would probably test well also, since they're the same shape as the 56mm. I didn't get a progress link to check, I just kept bugging them via email lol Emily was very patient with me. Once they shipped it was only six days to get to my door, not too bad.

The link provided with my order showed daily progress for the first 6 days, but nothing since last Friday. Hopefully they just forgot to update it.

If everything is still going as planned, they should be shipping them very soon. The tires, discs, cassette, and chain arrived yesterday.

That's a real beauty. I particularly like the over-the-bottom-bracket gear cable routing, and the Rinko-capable headset. Moreover, it's blue!
