FS - 1985 Trek 760 - New Price - Read Thread -SOLD!

Hey All,

Been buying more bikes than i'd planned on and running out of space. Plus, I've had a good bike friend convince me less is more. So gonna be listing 3 bikes for sale here and on the local CL. So...here goes nothing.

First up is my very clean 1985 Trek 760 with original Beaujolais paint. Seat tube is 56cm ctt

I've decided to use pedalroom to host my photos and they only allow me to upload 30. I've got considerably more than that so if you have any questions just shoot me a pm and I can always send more.

https://www.pedalroom.com/bike/1985-trek-760-36356

All the component details are up on pedalroom but the general backstory on this bike is that I purchased it in September of 2015 from a gentleman who had closed up his used sporting goods store in Vail, CO.

His dad worked with him at the time and had completely overhauled the bike and replaced the cinelli bars and stem along with the Campagnolo seat post. Not sure why and it's a bit of a bummer but the SR parts do the job and still look great imo.

I also removed the old sew up wheelset and replaced it with Campagnolo Omega 19 clinchers laced to Dura Ace hubs. I received the wheelset in a trade and was told the hubs had never been ridden. You can basically eat off them. I also put on brand new Continental Grand Prix tires that have a great worn in look even though there's less than 80 miles on them.

New rim tape, tubes, brake cables/housing and I have a set of newbaum's maroon cloth bar tape that I will include in the deal because the Benotto tape is on it's last leg.

Worth noting that the pedals are original but both toe clips have broke off.

Please reach out with any questions.

Asking $550 obo + $120 for professional pack and ship at my lbs. They use bikeflights

Not offended by offers so try me but I do think the price is relatively fair considering condition and new wheelset.

Thanks much!

Nope, you're right. I forgot the most pertinent piece of info!

The seat tube is 55cm ctc and 56 ctt

I will measure the top tube when I get home from work tonight

*Note corrected measurement

very, very nice; this bike will make someone happy. With Trek sizing, it's likely a 56 C to C or 57 C to T.

This bike looks to be a Trek size 56, which is 54.9 seat tube c-c and 55.5 top tube c-c

Catalog with geometry chart on next to last page is here.....

https://www.vintage-trek.com/images/t...TrekRacing.pdf

I have two of these in different sizes and I ride them more than my Italian bikes (except for the Tommasini), which is why I have downsized a lot.

You're definitely correct. Just had my wife check my notes at home. I have the seat tube measured 55cm ctc and 56ctt

That's a more than reasonable price on a very fine bike. If you're in the market and it fits, you should buy this.

Beautiful, beautiful bike- I recall the thread when you got this... one of the few "racing" bikes that interest me, but just a touch too big for me.

Best of luck and best wishes!

Bump for price drop

$550 or best offer (+$120 professional pack and ship if needed)

I purchased @cb400bill 's Trek 770 last fall and it is my best riding bike. Really no need to essentially have two of them. I would really much prefer that this bike gets into the hands of someone who will ride it as much as I ride the 770.

Final Price Drop - $500

Final price drop -- $500 local pick up in Denver or $120 to professionally pack and ship.

Was 35 and sunny in Denver yesterday so I took the 760 out for a 26 mile ride to hopefully say goodbye. Such a lightweight and responsive bike. PM for more photos or info

Screaming deal if it fits, you would be hard pressed to find a better riding trek and built up beautifully as is. Unless you are riding the 770! Nice ride for the end buyer.

Very hard to build a bike of that quality for that price unless you just happen to have inherited a pile of great parts.

One more price drop I guess. Want this beautiful bike out the door and in the hands of someone who will ride it more.

$480 plus $120 professional pack and ship

I'd also sell the bike minus the wheels for $380 plus shipping

Maybe hold off until late spring if no bites? Someone is bound to see it and think, "I want to ride this tomorrow."

Ugh, it's my size, but I have no physical, emotional, or budgetary room for a snazzy new ride right now.

Great bike. Great price for the bike. Shipping - maybe offer to pack & ship yourself. You probably would do a better job then some kid at the bike shop.
