Brazing in Chromed seat and chain stay
I was approached by a friend that needs a right rear drop out replaced. The stays are chromed. Is there a minimally invasive way to remove the chrome other than taking it to a chrome shop to have it chemically removed?

Make sure the friend understands that chrome can bring a challenge beyond the usual. The unseen tube interiors as example... I have very lightly ground off the chrome (only on a stay with it relatively thicker wall then a main tube) and sanded to prep before once. I did the brazing outside with plenty of ventilation. The finished repair was painted after a sand blasting. The frame's insides were pretty rusted. I would do another unless the friend can walk away with no functional frame.
