Crank appropriate for BB30 bottom bracket
Hi,
I have a Trek Madone 4.5, Ultegra,2013 model. I wish to upgrade the crankset on my bike. Can I fit an Ultegra crank on the bike or even and FSA carbon crank?

Yes, you'll need an adapter.

If the current bb fitted in the frame hasn't been changed from stock, then any Shimano 24mm spindle 'Hollowtech 2' road crank will be a direct swap. There is no need to change the bb.
The BB90 frame will not accept BB30 or BB386 cranks. The BB90 shell is too long (90.5mm) and narrow (37mm). There is not enough room for the bearings to fit inside the frame and accommodate the 30mm spindles.
The BB90 frame will work with any 24mm spindle crank. So Shimano Hollowtech 2, Sram GXP or FSA MegaExo. For the latter options you will need to switch out the pressfit cups or use a adapter.
