Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

garmin/gopro dedicated stem mount

I'm upgrading my Thomson stem to a less heavy one, and I have been using a cheap, but nice garmin/gopro mount bolted to the faceplate of the stem.
I know Enve has a dedicated garmin/gopro mount made by k-edge. I think I saw a 3T one too.

Are there any other interesting stems that offer a garmin/gopro mount? I see some nice stems out there, but most have some unusual faceplate bolt pattern that make these cheap mounts impossible to use.

There are a few manufacturers that are using mounts that fit in those slotted stem faceplates but, in general, the issue with them is weight capacity. They're fine for the computer, but usually can't handle a camera in addition (it's just a single bolt that secures it).

Other than that Barfly-style mount or the heavy-ish but sturdy and affordable ones with the extended faceplate bolts, the only other stem-specific mounts that I can think of are from Bontrager and their Blendr system.

Ritchey has a go-pro mount that attaches to the front of a stem by replacing two of the faceplate bolts with longer ones. Called a Universal Stem Mount. I bought a Ritchey stem to make use of this feature, but to be honest, I think the attachment would work with any 4-bolt stem. Will take a go-pro camera, so should be good weight wise for a garmin with the requisite go-pro/garmin adaptor

You'll find a Garmin out-front mount on Ali-Express for much, much, much less.

Looks kind of cool, and it's pretty light. That's a hurtful price tag, though, at 60 bucks for the mount and another 15 for the GoPro adapter.

It sounds to me like that's what the OP is coming from.

I use one of these for a 520pus and a Niterider 600 light that weighs 174g. How heavy is your GoPro?

yep...that's what I have. Normal bolt pattern is needed for that.

I have the same mount on my Thomson stem. I was looking at some of the other more exotic stems with different bolt patterns, but there doesn't seem to be a compatible mount for them (carbon fsa, zipp, pro...).
And I need the go pro connection for my Light & Motion lights.

i might have to go that route ...although I wanted a stem mount. I think it looks cleaner.

I'm using it with a Zipp stem, and it works perfectly. It comes with a GoPro slotted mount.

It'll work with a Zipp CF stem.

I have ENVE stems with their dedicated K Edge Garmin/GoPro Mount and I love it. Works flawlessly.
