I just am glad that you are real and I wasn't imagining it...
I don't have a set of verniers and it didn't cross my mind to compare the tapers when I gave up on my semi-sealed Record Pista BB that was getting crunchy and switched to something else, but I do not doubt what you are saying. I just want to mention though, that I am on my second, hopefully last, bottom bracket that I thought was compatible with my modern production Campag Pista crank since then - and thank goodness they didn't assplode, amirite?
I can't wait to hear what you have to say about symmetrical or asymmetrical
