Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So what are the benefits of a Ti seatpost versus carbon on a Ti bike? Interested in hearing from people that have tried both. I have a bontrager carbon post on my Lynskey.

Merckx Titanium AX. I have been debating getting rid of the older Ultegra triple chain ring and switching to a newer double chain ring group set. However, I am still pretty new to riding, so in the mean time I will just be doing plenty of research and enjoying the great Ti ride.

The difference is $200-$300 and not having to use friction grease.

Late to the party but here are our 2001 Mongoose Triomphe's on the top of Parkman Mtn carriage trail in Acadia National Park in Maine during this summer's trip north. We purchased these for our 30th anniversary back in 2001. Road them all time while living near Bar Harbor. Now only during the summer months on our motorhome trips to Maine and Atlantic Canada.

I had one of those Sandvik made titanium Mongoose for years back in the late 90's.
Tubing quality is top notch, welds and cold-work on those frames are equal if not better then Litespeed back then.

I think those wheels are nice but these ti frames by motobecane are not very stiff. I remember pedaling on one and I could feel the springiness of the frame and the flex and bouncing effect of the bottom bracket area with each pedal stroke. With the litespeed vortex I don't get any of that which is what I personally prefer.

i don't have many photos of the scar.. the welder told me that he did a 2 pass weld, so the real seam is under the second pass,

Glad to see Your Vortex is back on the road!
It will be such a waste to junk the frame.

Stem. Spacers above and below the bars. Random purple bar tape. A crank only a mother could love.

If the photo were clear I could probably find other things.
