It's a Michael Bay prediction from about 5 years ago when he said he was going to remake THE BIRDS (stupid idea). Everyone thought there would be large explosions in the movie, and I thought the flying saucers was a nice touch seeing how this is AREA 51 weekend where millions will storm the government facility looking for experimental spacecraft.

I don't see the issue with birds. Just ignore them.

From this week's Weird News
'It's springtime in Australia, which means if you're headed outside down under, you'll want to carry a big stick with you. September and October are the height of magpie swooping season, when nesting magpies are known to attack walkers, runners and bike riders in defense of their young. While they're only 12 inches long or so, 7News reported, the black-and-white birds can cause a lot of pain with their sharp beaks. Last year, a toddler was nearly blinded, and this year a man who was attacked as he rode his bike veered off the path and crashed, later dying of head injuries. "They're never trying to hurt anyone or be malicious," ornithologist Gisela Kaplan said. "It's all about risk assessment."'

If I ignored the wild turkeys that occasionally block my path, I'd run them over. I have to make some kind of loud noise to shoo them off the path or road.
As someone noted above, the turkeys do not seem to be afraid of cars, so I'm actually helping them when I scare them off the road. I've run across a fair amount of road kill that's still vaguely turkey-shaped, identifiable by the distinct feathers.

Seen reports around here of a few bird hits. One was a vulture feeding roadside that was startled and flew up as the bike passed at speed. Bird stuck in front wheel and guy had a horrendous face plant.
