Gitane Track Standard Frame and forks
I am considering using the components from this stripped steel frame on my Miyata 718a.
Mavic rims, strong light Chainring and BB. I can leave the headset (stem), handlebars and brake with the frame as it currently stands. Forks not pictured. Any idea on value?

I will most likely try to use the frame to barter with a mechanic on another bikes construction....Any thoughts?

Track frames tend to be pricey but the lack of paint and decals on this will hurt the value and make it hard to value the bike as well.
Cool bike and cool audio gear as well,

Thanks! The frame had been poorly rattle canned and was also very faded. My intent was to refinish, then I got the idea to rat rod it. When I came into the Miyata my whole thought process shifted.

I'll hazard a guess as to value. French reynolds 531 frames (and these are often sold with a headset and bottom bracket) with decent paint are worth $75-$125. I'd value this frame around that. It should be worth more but the lack of a paint job knocks the value down.
Heck I'd be tempted to buy it at around that price as it is my size and I really, really, really don't need another project in my life,

Well then that lowers the valuation considerably. I assumed--incorrectly it turns out--that this had decent tubing. If not, it isn't worth much since any gaspipe French tubing bike can be turned into a single speed and they can be found cheap with a quality paint job.

What size frame is this? I might be interested in this, even though I have enough track frame projects and my GF will kill me!

Well the bike came to me with no markings so I will give you what I can. From middle of BB to seat post top approx 22.5 in what else can I measure for you?

RB Chris,
Measure the thickness of his wallet first! When the dust settles, gimme a shout I may have a young gun in need of a frame. He sent me a note asking me to try a repair on a seat tube that broke a the BB juncture. I don't want to take on a worthless project. Smiles, MH
