Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mt. Doom Bench Bulletin: Pigs Fly

Red on the Addict.

When the Pope commits a sacrilegious act, he gets a Vatican Hall Pass.

15 lbs. on the nose as pictured, with clinchers. Sometimes to get your bike light enough, you make a deal with Satan.

I like it so far. WAY better than that Force stuff I rode last winter on the rental bike in Florida. The brakes are very impressive, shifter throws much shorter and the shifting is precise. It's no Di2, but it's light and it works.

Oh yeah, got an 11-26 cluster (I've been riding 12-25, 11-25 clusters for years), that will help a bit on days when Mt. Doom is a slog at the end of a hard ride.

Did you wear out the Di2 stuff already? Or did the battery die and you just said f-it, I don't need to charge no stinkin' batteries.

Isn't that a heater on the floor behind the bench? Those things are lousy efficiency-wise.

I'm at the age where each years age increase buys an extra tooth on the cluster. At twenty five now which is high for Indiana. Another 20 years and I'll be riding an 11-45.

I'm going to pretend it hasn't been ridden with that clean drivetrain. Is that to keep the bench legs looking good?

When it dies, another Toupe 143. But it's still good.

It is a nice bike. Very light, great climber, I have always loved the Addict frame. Those D.A. wheels are great too.
