Now I know why I couldn't sell that Trek 1000, I priced it too low and hyped it too little.

^^^^^^ That Aerowind was only $800 a couple years ago.
These prices reflect the fact that Roger runs essentially a museum. He recently bought the building adjoining the existing used "showroom" and knocked out the bricks in between. You can stop in and view some serious bike porn. But he prices a lot of them with, I'm sure, no expection of actually selling them. Maybe his zoning doesn't allow operating a "museum", so he has to put a price on every bike, just to make it "retail". Maybe it's for some insurance value purpose. All I know is, he's the richest man in overalls in South Central Wisconsin.

Consider this vendor to deserve serious consideration for award of the Unrealistic Expectations Oscar
Miraculously they do not seem to charge extra for grime, scratches, incorrect fittings nor incorrect description...

Hey I just thought of something...
Has anyone emailed a whacky CL seller with links to this thread poking fun at their ads?

To what end? I've actually contacted some about their listings out of interest (because you can't deny market value, and if they come around, great!). It's like doxing yourself.

Oh man, I seriously and wholeheartedly agree. I was just curious if anyone has done it, and if its been discussed in here before. I would never do it myself. Basically, I'll take the honeybadger attitude on this.

I guess the trick is to focus the buyer on what you see as the most attractive part of the bike
"Bianchi" for $60, still might not be a bad bike for the price

Are Craigslist private sellers really trying to charge sales tax now?.
I've asked them if they're really going to send the sales tax to the state.... I never get a reply.
