Are you going to be starting in SJ or Isabel Creek?

How long does it take to get from the finish out to the start at Isabel Creek?

So I take it there will be no follow cars? I hadn't read any of the fine print that closely yet.

I would count on a little over an hour to get from the finish to Isabel Creek.

Yep, no private SAG or follow cars according to their website. I'd hope they provide some follow cars.

I'm riding tubulars and will carry a spare. Hopefully neither of us get dropped on the first hill.

No follow cars. I'll be riding carbon tubulars too, and I'll be carrying a spare, and a CO2 cartridge.

Just emailed the race promoter. There will be an official SAG wagon w/ repair supplies. But he advised that since it may be spread out along the course, immediate support may be unavailable. I'll be bringing a spare too I guess.

Yeah, since the SAG wagon will be behind the last group of racers, which will be starting about 40 minutes after my group starts, it could be a loooong wait for help, be prepared and bring what you need.

erk, another quick question...where do I buy a 1-day license for this? I've already registered, but I don't see on the site where I need to get my USCF license from. Finish area? Start at Isabel? I'm hoping I don't have to drive ALL THE WAY to San Jose to get this, that would be ridiculous. And I'm sure there will be others starting at Isabel Creek who don't have their season license.

They usually sell one day license at the start. I'm sure they will have them at both starts.

They have you covered!

email from the race director:

Good Morning

Yes Isabel Creek will be selling one-day licenses, for
a cost of $10.

I should have one spot open in the truck. Look for a big white Dodge pickup with a white camper shell, we'll be finishing with the 45+ 1/2/3 so you might be waiting depending on when you're done.

I can't speak for the road surface on the descent to Isabel Creek and after, but the road conditions on the climb up to the observatory from Alum Rock has gotten progressively worse towards the top. I rode up on Wednesday and noticed a significant amount of gravel and sand on some corners and a bit of torn up pavement in places. Hopefully they cleared some of that out before the race, but I would definitely be careful on the descent (don't repeat what I did last year ) Good luck to all racing, wish I could be out there with you.

Look for a small climber type named Jeff on a Colnago in your race. He's meeting us at the finish. Or if you're really hauling and pass two guys on Lapierre's in Spine kits...I think we're going off 5 minutes in front of you.

Out the door, see you there!
