Chaffing?
Does anyone have good suggestions to combat chaffing caused by long hours in the saddle? Im starting a long tour out west in a couple weeks and would like to find something to keep me feeling fresh.

1. use good quality shorts that fit you well
2. wash your shorts with anti-bacterial soap immediately after each ride
3. chamois cream helps keep your shorts clean and smooth
Get into this routine well before the start of the tour.

I find regular pretroleum jelly works just a well as any chamois cream I've ever tride and cheap. Also baby wipes will help to stay fresh.

Miconazole Nitrate cream (2%) works well for me as a preventative. It's sold in drug stores as antifungal cream.
If you get a case of the crotch rot, Monistat 3, believe it or not, works wonders. It's just Miconazole Nitrate cream, but it's 4%. Soothes itching right away and gets rid of the stuff fast. I'm sure most of the women out there know exactly what I'm talking about. You have to be pretty secure in your masculinity to buy the stuff at the drug store if yer a guy (or *Butch*). I don't have to worry about it much, I just ask the wife to pick some up.

The trick is to have shorts tight enough so that they will cling to your skin and move with you. This way the rubbing occurs between the shorts and the seat, saving your skin.....
