Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looks like another wet Wednesday this week. Last week was only sprinkles so I was able to ride. This week they are calling for an inch of rain which may be too much even for me.

Went out for a ride and encountered cold air, nearly full-on weekday traffic, and no trace of a group ride. Fake miles and my Gandhi biography it is!

Last dumb censor comment of the day from me.

There is a parasite that causes urethritis in men and women. Tric****nas vaginalis. The infection is called tric****niasis. I do see it once in awhile in patients.

You are enjoying the smart trainer? Kudos. I am going to hold off on renewing my Zwift membership for another 1-2 months if I can help it.

I would rather not see sexually transmitted diseases in a professional or lay capacity.

Yes. Wife preferred Rouvy because of the photo routes, plus it’s cheap and has multi-person subscriptions. I must say, as a member of a pre-online gaming generation, I found the Zwift graphics dreary. However, I may join if the social aspect becomes important.

OT: as winter approaches, my GPU handwringing increases. What is it about being locked up for months at a time that makes me want to dive in to an FPS and stealthily take out all of my enemies?

I find the social aspect of Zwift to be the biggest game-changer for me. In the bad weather, a bunch of us do a group ride together and have voice chat. It keeps it fun and interesting.

You guys fussing endlessly about the minor nuances of the poor filter, and yet you let this grievous transgression slip by unchallenged? There's something wrong with this picture.

We all already know what THAT stands for.

I've half-heartedly begun vid card handwringing. Planning on gaming in 4k by January 2022. No way that's happening on ye olde 750ti.

Had a friend come down to the boat to crank me up the mast to see why my wind instrument isn’t making numbers, but there were dozens of wasps buzzing and crawling around the rig. No thanks!

My wind instrument was belting out a symphony last night. Think it was caused by all the garlic in my sautéed spinach.

Pffft. The monitors have come down in price pretty nicely, but the GPU horsepower to drive them is going to be prohibitive for a while, I think. I'm planning on 1440p, possibly ultra-wide, which can be driven respectably by the $350-500 cards.

A look at my Steam library reminded me that I'd bought Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Dishonored 2 last year and never got around to playing them. Sweet. That should get me through the first couple months of winter.

Hard a pretty great, if short, ride while the girl was in preschool. Well, great if you're in to hurting yourself. It's not that I was feeling particularly strong, but I was able to 'shut up legs' better than usual.

Seems six hours should be plenty. His post was too long so the fruit went unnoticed. I also don't understand why anyone cares what words are banned.
