Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's going to rain tomorrow and I think people are too burned out and worried about traffic to run our TT anyway. Might try it anyway on Fri because I'm in the best shape I've been in all year. Then I'm off the bike for two weeks. All of this seems more significant to me because I'm old.

Where is it? Why would traffic be worse now?

Fair enough, iirc it was already suffering from industrial decline back then which included the Chrysler plant down the road. The manufacturing company that employed me still exists but I think it is only a limited staff doing rebranding/reselling. The other issue was that Chicago was right down the road which tended to be the bigger draw for about everything unless it was outdoors.

Excellent.

When you bump down your time, and feel good about your ride, that really is a win. TT's are insidious. I've never really enjoyed them, nor have I looked forward to them, then we made some gains. Though I may not enjoy the ride, I'm now anticipating next season on the TT bike.

Nothing. But some guys like to do different things at a live performance. I saw Pat Metheny do this live.

Did I mention 5 more days until I can ride again? No threat to leaderboard though

I can't ride again until Saturday. No need to be concerned. FWIW I am aiming for something resembling a century, and about half that on Sunday.

That's put you at 290, which is... a lot, and would take me doing 40+ on Friday and a good long weekend myself. We shall see; fortunately it's just a meaningless pissing contest good for motivation.

Yup. It’s early in the morning, there aren’t many, and we have all assured our loved ones that we look both ways.
