I have a couple of stories similar to this one. One of the bikes I sorely regretted selling came back my way 20 years later nearly striped of all the parts. Fortunately I had everything available to bring it back to stock outside of the seatpost and saddle.

Really appreciate all the positive comments!

Will probably do a quick overhaul and replace the torn cable housing on the front brake.

In regards to the cork, it was added by the interim owner. Left it on for the pictures but will likely remove it.

That bike is stunning...and it is cool that it came full circle back home. Can I share MY coming home story? Ok, I will. It’s not as nice of a bike, but it still has sentiment.
As a kid, my grandpa bought me all my bikes (Schwinn Stingray, Diamondback bmx) and my first big bike...a 1984 Schwinn Tempo in Black with Yellow/White decals. He then passed away from cancer, and then the bike was stolen.

Fast forward to last year when I am thinking about him and begin a search for that bike, in my current size.

Fast forward to last week when Gartenmeister links a CL as in Boise. I contacted the guy and...it is scheduled to deliver TOMORROW!!! Fingers crossed that all is good. Looking forward to riding with Grandpa again.

Not a coming home story, but a couple of my bikes were purchased from their original owners (from new), and I have kept their contact info. If I ever decide to sell, I'll be contacting the previous owners first.

That's a nice bike. You should consider selling it.

Inspired by Alex’s Molteni Colnago

I restored my own 1974 Colnago Super after being inspired by the work Alex did on his bike. I was so taken with the level of detail and the fine execution along with the passion for the project.

This is why I’m afraid to sell any of my bikes - although none are at that level of smooth.

A few more shots of my Colnago inspired by Alex’ Colnago

This was one of the hardest things to find but I liked it on Alex’ Colnago so I went in search. Found it at Eroica jumble.

Modern reproduction of a pantografata stem.

Should be polished and the clover could be bigger but pretty close.

Reproduction pantografata chainring

Track pedals because Eddy used ‘em.

Lord Donnington’s bike turned out well too, even better as it is at it very close to my size.

I rode one of my Supers yesterday, entertaining bike.
years ago in this thread I mentioned a long stolen bike, still missing in action but did find one that is about as close as I can expect- good size, same color, same year as a track bike I own. When done it will be the recreation of that matching road and track bike set I owned 45 years ago.
in 1973 a number of the Junior and Intermediate age group racers had matching road and track bikes- Paul Vine had matching purple Hetchins- stunning bikes.
took two years to work to a matching set.
just a SoCal Junior “thing”.
some of the pros did too, Skip Cutting always seemed to have a matching set.
