Torelli Stainless Columbus Frame - $4k

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's pretty, but a little expensive for what it is.

As reference, the Ritte Snob is a stainless frame for less than $2300

I took a look at the frame geometry chart and was left scratching my head. If they can't even get that right they are not getting my $4000($5250 CDN)
Talk about lost in translation

That's a lot of money for a very heavy frame. If something about it is compelling to you than it's worth it, but for me no way.

Only you can decide if it is worth it to you.
Plenty of people pay more for a Chinese made Pinarello Dogma.

I don't understand the attraction of stainless for a bike frame. For the price, you could have Ti. It's not like regular steel frames are rapidly rusting away. Is there some ride quality beyond regular steel?

I can think of many other things I'd do with c$5200 (like buy 50, $100 dollar bikes for example) over buying any bike. I only found out about torelli yesterday. I'd spend up to $3500 on a custom bike, fully complete with parts and wheels, but not that type of money on a frame. Stainless looks neat but it gives the impression that it's a frame awaiting a paintjob, sort of incomplete.

Being stainless is more incidental than actually the objective. They are a very high tensile steel which happens to have the added benefit of being stainless.

You obviously aren't the person they are targeting with this.
I would much rather have this than 50x$100 bikes cluttering up my garage and all of them requiring maintenance and offering mediocre performance at best!

That only leaves $200 to hire 49 people to ride behind you.

Why would anyone want 50 $100 (dollar) bikes? Think of the storage issues

The only one that wants 50 100$ bikes is a department store manager.

Some really good bikes can be had for $100! (Not new ones of course). I use the 50 bike reference to illustrate value compared to the stainless frame. I'd prefer to own and ride 3 or 5 different bikes, tops. No, I am not buying nor entertaining buying the Torelli. I posted for feedback on whether a modern frame like the stainless is worth that type of money. To very few, with money to burn, it's of no consequence. For most though probably not. For some, $4k is nothing. I don't see $4k in value there. $4k for a good used dodge ram maybe.

They are obviously not selling like hot cakes. It is way, way over priced. Check out the Warakin. Much more reasonable price for those interested in stainless steel.

The comment about for that price you could have Ti is spot on. For that money, you could have a Moots, or for 1/3 you could have a Lynskey.

I think the prestige of this frame is that you've obviously paid someone a lot of money to spend a lot of time to polish the stainless.

Ever tried to polish SS, let alone in the shape of a bike frame? You'd have to offer me $60 an hour before I'd even consider it.

Nothing sparkles like blood, sweat and tears.

It's a $1000 frame ... with a $3000 shoe shine. "Mr. Torelli, go get your shine box."

Are you saying you would PREFER the bikes be made somewhere with inferior manufacturing infrastructure? I've never understood the anti Chinese production thing.
