Trek 700 Series Pink
This is my first post & forum states I can’t upload pictures as a newbie so I’ll describe. My sister’s husband passed recently and he has a couple of bikes she would like to know value of so she can downsize soon. Bikes have been in AC in her spare bedroom for decades and not ridden in a very long time due to his illness. First bike has a 700 series decal on a pink frame. It has 531c on another decal. And TREK lettering down the tube. I’m pretty sure all paint is as it was originally. Brakes have Campagnolo. If you have any approximate idea of the range of worth for this bike we would appreciate it. Thank you. And sorry I’m not allowed to upload pictures yet on your forum.

In 1985 the Trek 770 was Pink with Campy parts. https://www.vintage-trek.com/images/t...TrekRacing.pdf
Here is the entire website. Vintage Trek Bikes- Information on Steel Road Bicycles made by the Trek Bicycle Corporation, bike
If it is indeed a 1985 770 with Super Record bits it would be very desirable. Go to other sub forums and post how much you enjoy the witty banter and compliment others bike photos. You will soon have enough posts to put some photos on here.
There are some Trek experts on here, some guys that worked there so you will get the answers. And welcome.

I used to own a Trek 770. It is of the best American made vintage racing bikes.
Value will depend on many things. But the biggest two are originality and condition. Your location will also make a difference in the value. As will your ability to properly pack and ship it.

As a comp, I did see, and very much desired, a complete 60cm model with a $450 asking price last year. Only non original bits were the brake levers, and even they were Campagnolo aero versions.

The picture you posted does look like the bike I am referring to. Only the white original seat and handlebar tape was changed out at some point. When I’m allowed to, I will upload pictures of it. Thanks to all for taking the time to write back. Very appreciated.

Very cool bike among us vintage Trek guys. I have an ‘86 760 similarly equipped, basic difference being the 770 had tubular tires which put it into a lighter overall weight.

According to the brochure, both the 770 and the 760 were OEM with sewups. 770 was equipped with Campy Super Record components while the 760 was Campy Victory.

I picked up one a couple of years ago that was a project bike. It did not have the original fork and many of the parts were missing. It was rattle canned black with the decals masked off. Original color was deep purple, SN indicates 1984 760. I have not ridden it but the plan is to build it up as is except with the straightened up "85 fork I found and ride it. Knowing that it could be a <20# bike gets my juices flowing! The group will be Superbe Pro with sew ups, as we old timerer like to refer to them "tubulars." BTW sew up is an American ID, tubes in England.
My investment was $100.

The components are worth more than I paid for the bike

Just a thought. Any super record equipped bicycle is worth at least a grand. It goes up or down from there unless your on Bike forums. Then its worth $400. Just sayin

Giving a blanket $1000 starting point on a bike just because it has overvalued Super Record on it is a joke.
As a market metric, I had he opputunity to pick up a 60cm pink 770 with SR group for $425. Sadly the seller wasn't interested in shipping.
