1976 Raleigh Sports rear reflector

Greetings. I hope this hasn't been addressed elsewhere but I didn't see it, so here goes. I recently picked up a very clean 1976 Raleigh Sports. The serial number indicates it was made in Nottingham in 1976. There is a sticker on the bottom of the seat tube that says "Made in England assembled in USA". The rear reflector is missing. There are four holes in the rear fender that appear to be factory made, two vertical about 3 1/2" apart and two horizontal about 1 3/4" apart. Catalogue illustrations from 1976 show a small circular reflector and the rear fender has the traditional "white tail". My fender has the four holes and lacks the"white tail" I am thinking it may have been setup for the large DOT cats eye rear reflector. As a side note the Raleigh lamp mounting bracket at the front has a small hole drilled in it and a large white DOT reflector is threaded in to it. Any suggestions on what the correct rear reflector type would be? If it is the DOT cats eye does anyone know the part number of that style reflector? Also any idea why the white tail was omitted from the rear fender?

Thank you,

Seth

The 1978 fender did not have the white tail, is it possible your fender was replaced at some point? Or is it possible your bike is actually a '78?

The date is 4/76, the serial number on the seat tube confirms it is a 1976 frame. It also has the hockey stick style chain guard not the later 1970s style. I thought perhaps the rear fender was replaced but the front reflector looks to be factory installed and is not shown in 1978 catalog pictures.
