Anyone up for a whole lot of pain in SW Wisconsin in August?

Absolutely a great build. Better than I could do, for sure, way out of my box.
Hmmm, I do find myself taking long looks at the Miyata. Don't need another bike, but then when have I needed another bike. My size. Hmmm...
Speaking of bikes, this one should look familiar to you. My take on it is with a centaur triple group with 28's on low spoke count wheels. Did a 70 mile shakedown on it with about 5K of climb today. I gotta say that 27.7 gear inches does make our steepest hills around here a sub AT cakewalk. The 28's float like a butterfly. In the end it was the least stressful 70 mile 5K climb ride I've ever done. Need to tweak the FD just a little more, but it should be ready to rock on Saturday.
One odd thing though, a couple times I had some "slippage" in the drivetrain, almost like when you've just installed a new freewheel and it's tightening itself up. No idea what that's about, but it lessened as the ride went on. Hopefully no issues...

Puts new kicks on the bike, a new chain because the old one broke and a 42 up front with a 18/21/24 in back for the hills. Did a 3-hour shake-down today. Looking good at this time.
Crap is coming together for the show and dinner. Menu is set, swag bag needs just 1 more thing, awards are nearly assembled (except one, the guy at Hobby Lobby cut the glass the wrong size), signage is done for bikes, tee shirts ready for those who wanted one and nametags are complete. Just need to cram that and 4 or 5 bikes into the car.

Still haven't decided on the 48/34 Ironman with the 12-27 rear, or the 52/42 Raleigh with the 13-28 rear.
Decided on a wool jersey and picked up a couple of things to bring to folks. Undecided on 80's shorts with a leather chamois but lacking in elasticity at the waist, or 80's looking bibs from Nalini (14.99 at ribble) that are the most comfortable bibs. Definitely "out" for the Dare are my modern bibs, which tend to climb on longer rides and if they get wet.
Toe clip pedals, laced shoes, and 80's helmet with stretch cover, John Lennon sunglasses are ready. No gloves, hope it's not hot. Tubular spare and pouch via Henry III's Off the Saddle brand if I ride the Raleigh. I'll bring some parts stuff to toss around, perhaps, courtesy of the Box o' Crap.
Making arrangements for beer. Price indicates we may be better off if I buy individual brands than part of a keg; but will check with the vendor (it may be Capitol lager).
Security is arranged during the ride, and I still plan to be the watchdog the night before, unless the event director lets me know he'll have folks on hand.
The way it looks, I may be laying decals and bar wrap on a bike that night, anyway, or restoring a 1959 Raleigh.
I will have my pump and tools on hand, but will not have a repair stand since I don't use one. I'll also have cleanup stuff and chain lube (Red Extreme) from Thunder Ridge.

We'll miss you, too, Bob, as will the bookstore in Mineral Point...... I'll send you pics and family-friendly video. Kiss your lady and give George a good scruffy rub.
UPDATE: The first coat of varnish on the racks is done, he'll probably leave them at that. 3 sets of 8 = slots for 24 bikes. I will bring 4 racks, so if people have a couple, it may work out well. I'll rack my bikes with my stuff, and we'll likely be OK. I'll be picking them up Friday am.
Someone up that way (not on this forum? but perhaps) has mentioned a move for the event to Mineral Point next year, and associated rides in Galena, IL, and near Dubuque, IA, and bringing back a series situation, a Tri-State Triple Crown. If you think that may be a good idea, please keep it in mind for future discussions.

Is anyone from near/in Chicago going? I have a bar and stem for @crank_addict that I'd like to get to him. I thought briefly about riding out to @iab's place yesterday, but wussed out. I had a couple projects on my plate around the house. I don't think the missus would have appreciated it if I was gone most of the day and returned too beat to do anything.

Bringing this one again but not for the Dare ride. Quite the challenge last year.

So come this Sat., looky what I have on the Nago.....
Removed the axle adjuster screws to make it work. Changed axle from 5 speed to a longer plus spacer in order to make the 6 speed clearance. 52 / 42T up front. Game over if the biggies meet. Risky goat

Love it! Hope that it gets you to the finish safely and in first place!
We'll miss you to Bob. The bus will be rolling for the Sunday recovery ride but take a looky here. You're always in thought.
As Robbie, say hi to your lovely bride and that fury fellow.

This is the riley tavern just west of Madison?
8205 Klevenville-Riley Rd, Verona, WI 53593?
Is the plan to ride into Madison? I'm thinking about it but I probably won't make it up on time; it's a little over 4 hours for me to make it there.

I get in Thursday late afternoon or early evening, would be interested in the Friday morning ride. Please confirm/correct address above so The Google Lady can direct me there. And help me remember- miles? hilly? beer? food?

Bikemig has the correct address. If you look it up in the Google maps you'll see the military ridge trail is just across the street. The meetup is the parking lot just north of the trail. Get to the tavern and you'll see it for sure. Riley is a one horse town.

One other question: Can someone lend me two threaded CO2 cartridges? Or tell me where I can buy some on Thursday afternoon in Madison or thereabouts? The airlines & TSA get very unhappy if you take 'em on the plane...
