I use this on both road and mountain bikes. I have even used it in mountain bike races:

Never had an issue, even with a couple wipe outs on the mtb.

I carry a cell phone for communication, in particular because I am often on call for work; for navigation; as a camera; and as a listening device. I like to keep my I-Phone 6+ on my chest close to my head so I can hear it, and have it easily accessible to answer a call, take a photo, or spot my position on the confusing, haphazard thoroughfares of Metro Boston…
So my final, and most satisfactory innovation was to buy a Hidden Security Waist Wallet with a top zippered opening from L.L. Bean for about $9.00, and a pair of suspenders with clips. I then shortened the front suspender straps as short as possible, and fashioned a “shoulder holster” as it were, that comfortably holds the I-phone high to make it easily accessible.
I call it an ”I-bra.” . As mentioned above, I usually wear a yellow cycling vest, so the holster doesn’t show.

Since you mentioned that you have a Garmin Edge 520, this will be your best bet for indoor training. It's what I did.
1. Go to your local dollar/thrift store and get a cheap iPhone case.
2. Get the SRAM Quickview Garmin Mount and sand/cut off the two clips on the top. https://www.amazon.com/Quickview-Garm.../dp/B00DPUWXYI
3. Adhere the mount to the back of the phone case. I used countersunk screws and placed a piece of tape over the screws so that the phone does not get scratched. You can probably use some kind of epoxy/glue since you are training indoors, and won't be riding over any bumpy roads.

I use Quad Lock Up-Front. I did not change my phone case. I called Quadlock, and they said if you have one of those cheap, squiggly silicon cases, it won't stick, but if you have a polymer case (like a protective case), the phone part of the quadlock will bond completely and nicely. I do between 120-50 mis weekly, never had a problem with the Quadlock.
It work very well, handles my Strava data, Ride With GPS, etc, etc., and I don't have to keep track of a bunch of devices. What my phone does not do is record my body measurements during a ride - but I don't care about that anyway....
Hope this helps.

I use this one for my Note 4 but they make one for the iPhone 6 plus as well.

I use it on the trainer and on the road. 900+ miles on the road and 1000+ on the trainer. 78 ride/training sessions and the case still snaps in secure.

Is anyone using the Blendr stem on their Trek bike? If yes, did your bike come with the mounts or did you have request it from the LBS?

I use this. It's like a quad lock knock off. Many 1000's of miles on roads and on my cx bike as well. Never had any problems. Even comes with a rain cover. https://www.amazon.com/Tigra®-MountCa...TYMX5MV1TN2DPC

How are you mounting your IPhone?
I've only gotten to second base with the IPhone, my IPad Air will let me do it missionary if I treat it to a couple of Apps...

How are you guys mounting your phones to your bike? I bought a mount from Amazon and turns out it does not fit my handle bars or stem. I have an iPhone 6s Plus that I need to mount. I know there is one mount that will work but you have to change the phone case and it costs $70 for the mount. What are you all using?
It's great!

I know the OP solved his problem with mounting his iPhone. As a follow up to anyone else looking for a simple mount for any type of phone on any bar I ran across this on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Nite-Ize-HDB-0.../dp/B00GOUO42A
One added and important advantage is it can be used as a bottle opener too.
