I wouldn't compromise comfort for the sake of authenticity, if you want a good trophy pic, put the Turbo on it, then in the middle of the night when no ones looking you can put the Brooks on it. Problem solved.

I just stumbled on a thread with this bike. The owner had to ditch the tires because of rub on the seat tube.

^ Ha! It's obvious in the photo now that you point it out.

Beautiful frame. I purchased my 83 in 2008 and it is not in the best paint condition but the best part about it riding. It came with tubulars, which took me back 30+ years. They are my preference.
I think the bike was near original with exception of the post, saddle, pedals and FW. Maybe the hoods, they are DiaCompe ergos.

I wanted to get comfortable on it, so didn't pay much attention to the esthetics. I have learned a lot about people’s opinions on that topic, but stick to comfort and some level of originality, which also overlaps with the nostalga (DTshifters).

I figure that any color will work as long as it is one of the championship colors. Since yellow was the theme when I purchased it, I stuck to it. I rarely get comments about its appearance, maybe that is why, but to me it is a fun ride and is a Colnago. Bottom line is you have to approve the final product. I am sure you will be happy.

This is mine looked like when I got it home the first day.

Today but change the saddle to a Brooks Pro for comfort.

nice Colnago! And I think you're right, i don't think this level of aesthetic scrutiny began until the invention of the online forum Unfortunately, lately, that's where I spend much of my time as compared to riding.

I finally got around to building this up so at least I can ride it and see if I'm going to keep it. I really like it to far. It's a mix of campy 9 speed with some crappy wheels. If I keep it around I'll upgrade the wheels and probably change out the bar tape to leather.

and yes, i realize the chain isnt all the way shifted into gear, oops.

the light washed out the rear mech, but its a mirage medium or long cage i got cheap.

thats a campy compact 50/34, 9 speed rear with a 28 large, super record post i sanded down to 27.0 form 27.2 because it was really beat up to begin with. Veloce shifters and brakes i got a killer deal on. Mirage rear hub. The front is a shimano temporary wheel fender1 gave me so at least I could ride the damn thing. the bars are no name and they are wide, like i prefer them. The tires are 25's I had laying around. that's a brooks pro....

the fit is a little different for me. The stem is a little longer and the bars a little lower. My rationale was that on my other bikes i'd find myself sliding back in the saddle on long decents to get more aero, this will be easier to do that. It still feels like it fits really well though. I'll find out more on that once i take it for a real ride hopefully this weekend.
