Fast (to me) night riding. Good combo?
With the changing of the seasons upon us in Michigan and the shorter days, and my longer work hours, I need good lights. When I was riding more during the summer I was riding around 20mph for cruising, and would like to ride around that speed with my lights. I am stepping up from a blackburn flea, which isn't good for anything above walking pace it seems.
What do you think about this as my headlight combo
On my helmet:

And on my bars

With my route that I like I could run both on high and shouldn't run out of battery.
Anything else with in my budget of 200-250 USD, that could get me a better combo? With at least the helmet light being cordless.

Like you I am looking at getting a good set of lights. Myself I am more concerned with having a bike mounted headlight and a good rear blinky. While searching around on amazon I found this and am probably going to buy it tonight. Got good reviews on amazon.

I use a two Serfas lights for night riding:TSL-250 for near view and TSL-500 for far. Both on handlebars, I don't like a helmet light because it makes close flying bugs look like monsters. Riding at 20+ MPH is not a problem, however most roads here are well lit - I can't speak for how adequate they'd be for you in Michigan. That combo could be had for $250ish, probably cheaper if you shop around.
For rear light, I use a Planet Bike SuperFlash Ultra. It has a random blinking pattern that is supposed to keep drivers' attention (I don't know how accurate that is in reality...) and is plenty bright to be seen from yards and yards away, especially on darker roads.

I use NiteRider MiNewt 700 Dual on the bars, NiteRider MiNewt 300 on the helmet and Planet Bike Superflash Stealth on seat bag.
you really only need the 700 dual for the road. if you ride trails the helmet light works well. I usually use one or the other. both is overkill except for total blackout areas.

I have a Vis 360+ by Light and Motion. I highly recommend it. Completely attached to the helmet and wireless with a Li-ion battery that is rechargeable
by mini USB cord. Bright 120 Lumens in the front lamp with amber lighting on the side for approaching intersections and flashing rear red light with the same
side lighting. Three modes Bright, Dimmer, Flashing. Flashing will definitely get drivers attention. It's sorta spendy but search around. Any way I give it
a glowing *groan* review
