Bikes: Too many. Giant Trance X 29, Surly Midnight Special get the most time.

Do you have experience and tooling for doing suspension work? Are you good at hunting down rare or NOS parts?

Given you haven't given a specific shock model, can't help out too much. Odds of rebuild parts for OG Manitou are less likely than, say, Fox or Rockshox.

I'd generally advise against it.

Join the FB group for 90s Mountain Bikes. It's mostly guys in the UK selling stuff I'd love to have.

Lots of knowledge there and I've definitely heard mention of people getting rebuild kits.

If I had to guess, Manitou 1-4 should have rebuilds since they were super simple elastomer setups.

The 4 had a spring rebuild kit available in like 1996, so that will work if you find one.

The Mach 5 is generally considered junk, and much like Highlander 2 or Dragon Ball GT, we're going to go ahead and forget they ever existed.

The FS ti and it's green buddy the Palmer are a lot closer to a modern shock. The oil filled damper leaked even new, but it might be something you can gut with the right rebuild kit. Probably the pinnacle of Manitou vintage but kinda fragile.

Newer than that, just buy a budget new fork.

Are you talking about an original manitou 1?
