Jokingly referred to as the first ever Broakland road bike, I wanted a bike to complement the road riding I've been doing since moving to Oakland as I'm gearing up for a couple weeks riding in Southern France in the fall. Starting with a Broakland Streetfighter I requested an oversized head tube and a different downtube. I also requested provisions for mounting front and rear brakes. I had custom made cable clips made by Halekai Machine in Pleasant Hill. Paint was done by Spectrum Powderworks, as per usual with Broakland. 19 lbs as shown.

This bike was at NAHBS this year next to a 16.2 lb full S3 Streetfighter with the best paint ever...

1001 - Thanks. Hale is a cool guy and very talented. I hope he gets some attention to his work, I like supporting the local guys.

Connor - I wasn't familiar with that frame. I see the similarity in the down tube shapes but otherwise I think they're pretty different bikes.

And the track ends look very similar.

Somebody will post pics of whatever track ends leader uses, and whatever track ends they supposedly look like here shortly. We just had this discussion like a week ago....

Um... I think the fork is on backwards

Wait... Maybe not. The rake would be really messed up if it was. The orientation of the dropout is ****ing with me.

The levers are from TRP. A wound up track fork is the same as their road fork but with the drop out flipped backwards to bring in the rake. They offer them undrilled for the purists. I think it's kind of clever, and they're great riding forks. I have a cyclocross one too for a different bike.

@onetwentyeight: How are you liking the HED Belgiums? I've been looking at them and Velocity A23s for my next wheelset.

dkv2ck - So far so good. This is my first time experimenting with the larger rims and the thing I notice the most is the good cornering. There's some extra traction there and I can feel what my tires are doing and feel more confident leaning the bike in turns. I'm using a 25 in the front (open corsa cx) and a 28 in the back (randonneur). I still like to skip and skid a bit. Feels cushy but not slow. I build a lot of wheels at the shop I work at, and I have built several sets of both the HED's and Velocities for customers. I think the HED has a better construction with less of a hop at the seam. The construction is very consistent. They are very stout even before the spokes go in and I think will stand up to abuse better. The bike is new so I've only got a week on the wheels but my first impressions are positive.

It's nice to finally see a broakland around these parts! I've been thinking of dropping the money for a custom pipebomb at montano but I've not been able to come to terms of riding and of course locking up such a nice frame around town which I plan to do as opposed to treating it as a showroom queen. I came close to dropping the deposit for one too after discussing options and viewing the showroom models they had there with jason for nearly an hour and a half! =/

Do it. Jason did a fine job designing these bikes and it really shows when you get on one and ride it.

My NS Analog 700cMX, it's 30-11 gearing on a LHD profile bmx cassette with 120mm spacing spline drive, has 29" bars, slammed seat (soon to be more slammed) and 700 x 35c tires. like cruising on a bigger faster bmx that can still get thrashed around. love it. so may hate it. but it's a damn blast.

That's friggin sweet man. Looks fun as hell.

I've been wanting to go to a bmx crankset on my 29er for a while now. Seems to be kind of expensive tho.

Btw, are you running that fixed? I assume so if there's no brakes but you never know...
