Do you give a name to your bike?
As a child I named my bike : nellie bell
My recent bike that has been with me for 2 years, when I bought it I named it again after my childhood bike " nellie bell ", I guess the reason why I did that is because I felt like a kid all over again riding it every where here. Biking has always been an adventure for me and it still is to this day. I'll post a picture as soon as I get 10 post posted.

Usually just call it by the make, the raleigh, the cannondale, etc.
The kids like to name the cars so they have official names; Charlie is my Mazda5 stick shift minivan, Jessie was the wife's Mazda 3 that was totaled after being rear ended, Penelope is her replacement, and Zoey is the little red MX5 convertible.

No I don't. I've never named a vehicle either because it's a vehicle and not alive. I call the bikes by their purpose, brand, or color.
The last inanimate object I named was a Cabbage Patch Doll back when I was 4. I'm sure Fred James Freddy Fries Jr is still boxed away in my parent's house.

I've never owned a bike with a name, or a gender. Or a car either.
At least i don't think so. I bought my Fiero in 2003 so who knows, it may have had names and genders before....

All of my bikes have names written on their downtubes. Those names are good enough for me.

My bikes all have names:
- Eliot - my fatbike named after the FedEx delivery guy named Eliot who got scared in 1/2" of snow on delivery day and failed to deliver the bike, causing me to spend an entire morning the following day trying to get my damned bike at the FedEx depot. I named my bike after Eliot because he was a chubby, friendly guy who moved slowly. It seemed appropriate.
- Killing Time - This is my newish top of the line, matte black, modern carbon fiber road bike with fancy everything for high speed road rides. It's named after a spaceship in the book "Excession" by Iain M. Banks, which is part of the famous "Culture" series and you should read if you like sci-fi. In the book, "Killing Time" is a sentient, bad ass, matte black, high tech "Rapid Offensive Unit" that features in a key sequence in the book. The name is a double entendre in the book. Trivia: Banks' spaceships have the best names and Elon Musk has named multiple Sapce X landing barges after the names of various spaceships in various "Culture" books.
- Colt Seavers - this is a Raleigh Stuntman gravel bike. This bike (which is a very cool model that Raleigh only sold for a couple of years) was themed by Raleigh to "The Fall Guy", an 80's TV show about a stuntman that solves crimes. The bike is painted in the same paint scheme as the lead character, Colt Seavers', signature truck. It even has a modified copy of the logo on his truck's hood. I named the bike after the lead character.
- Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge - this is a very fancy Seven Mudhoney Pro CX bike with Super Record, Enve wheels and top of the line everything. The bike model was named by Seven after the seminal grunge band Mudhoney. I named the bike after my favorite Mudhoney album, a grunge classic from the early 90s. This bike was also a reward to myself after a work achievement earlier this year, so the name has two meanings.
- Looper - this is my hardtail mountain bike. This bike has aggressive, modern, long and slack geometry with very short chainstays and manuals/bunny hops with the slightest provocation. The day I bought the bike, I idiotically tried to manual it on pavement while wearing flip-flops. My flip flops fell off, my feet came off the pedals and I ended up "looping out" the bike: falling backward over the rear wheel while the bike landed on top of me. The bike was immediately named after this (stupid and painful) incident.
I own a few more bikes, but those are the primary ones.

I've put names on the down tubes of several bikes that came without any decals. It personalizes my bike and is fun.
What I find curious is the level of animosity that some show in these threads when hearing that others enjoy naming their bikes. Why does this bother you so much?... or at all! That to me is way more disturbing than naming a non animate object.

During my first "Midnight Ride" on newly purchased used DAY6 Journey I saw a FIREBALL at 5:35AM and reported it. It was confirmed by 41 other reports from people in Florida, Alabama, Georgia and S. Carolina. FIREBALL is the first time I ever named a bike.
Me thinks "self name calling" could be reflective of the ride's frequency of climbs.

You can name your bike in Strava and Training Peaks and probably some other exercise tracking websites. So when I typed "Domane" in Strava my autocomplete gave me "Do Many" instead. So now my bike on Strava is Do Many Rides, which at least seems appropriate.
I never call it that out loud. It's just "my bike" as I own only one. My wife has two bikes - "my wife's bike" and "my wife's e-bike"

No, I don't name my bike. I don't wish to have personal attachments to a inanimate and non-living thing. When it's time for the scrap yard I'll have no regrets tossing it.
My boat had a name, but that was only because it makes radio communication more understandable than saying a bunch of numbers and letters.

My first one came with its own name tag (long-expired Eugene OR bicycle license) and I named the other two to distinguish them.
Cathy for the person I found this one for many years ago. It was already 20 years old and in absolutely beautiful original showroom condition when I got it at a yard sale for $24. Delivered it to my neighbor, who never rode and parked it in her back yard for another 20 years and then gave it back to me in sad shape.
And Pearl for the owner of a Washington D.C. bike shop whose sticker was on this bike when I found it at the curb on trash day in Wake Forest NC. I had previously called on Pearl when I covered a different sales territory.
