Hetchins in need of lots of tlc.
I found his bike in a shed in Spain about 5 years ago.
It had not been ridden in many years.
The dry atmosphere in Spain saved it.
As you can see from the pictures it was a mess.
The frame was the main interest. The other equipment was saved too.
I also have pictures of the frame all restored.
It is a 1957 Magnum Bonum 211/2, why can't i find them in my size...

That is a heck of a barn find. Too bad it's not your size.

That could use a little touch up here and there.
Wow, that is a fantastic find. Thanks for sharing. I don't think I've ever seen a Hetchins from that era. The very modern looking under the bottom bracket cable routing is interesting. If one only looked at that pic of the bottom of the BB shell, it might be mistaken for a bike from 1987.
What are your plans for this? IMHO it would be worth it to take it somewhere (Argos?) for a full restoration. Since it's not your size it makes the decision complicated.

Wow! Finding that must have been like uncovering the ark of the covenant.
Also, that should buff right out!

I have to admit I am not usually a big Hetchins fan, but this one is very cool. Especially those stay caps - like Medieval weaponry.

Restored the Frame
Hello all
The frame was restored by the gentleman that owns the Hetchins marque now.
He is keeping it for himself as he said its rare in that size.
The colour is what it was originally.
When I first heard about it I so wanted it to be my size, but alas.....
It's polished out quite well I think I love the lug work down the fork blades & the lining.

A new build Hetchins
Now for some Bicycle pornography
I know not strictly vintage but very sexy I think, & not carbon, wash my mouth out.......
I saw this when I took my frame up to the gentleman that bought it.
This was built in 2015, it was being packed up for export to Asia, Japan I think, for the Keirin racing.
If I remember right they are built by Bob Jackson.

edit: X2 = workmanship in the name, across the decades. Rare.

Attractive frame but the NJS authorities would probably not allow it racing. Not type / builder approved.
for training probably ok.

Beautiful bike.
It looks like the first bike had at least some bits of Nickel Chrome. I'm surprised they didn't try to preserve it during restoration.
